Come on in and say hello.

Brand New Owner--as of Saturday

Postby flick4411 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 4:13 pm

Hello from Virginia! I will be picking up my new Winnie Aspect 30C on Saturday! I'm sooooooooooo excited, and I am so very anxious. There's so much to learn. While I grew up camping in tents, trailers, camper trucks, and RVs, I didn't actually do alot except ride along and have a grand time. I will be stopping by here a lot; and I may have a heap o'questions for the next few months. I am retiring in early 2012 and will be leaving the East Coast to head back to my roots on the Left Coast. So between now and then, I will be out and about checking out this rig and learning all I can. I look forward to learning from all of you! :D

Welcome and congrats. Tell us more about yourself - pets - significant other- going fulltime, etc? We're a nosy bunch and love pictures. We don't consider any question "dumb" - ask away.

Congratulations on your new rig! You will find lots of support here on this forum, whether cheers or hugs are needed. I'm looking forward to hearing about the first camping trip...and beyond. Jump into any conversation that interests you, and I guarantee all your questions will be answered. (Maybe not always the right answer  , but at least a sincere one)

Wow! Fast replies!

Ok, about me...I'm a 32 year DoD Federal civilian employee about 14 months away from retirement. I have lived all over the world in this career. My last overseas assignment was a year in Kuwait. I am single (actually divorced 15 years), living wherever the job has taken me. My longest stay was in Los Angeles for 7 years; and now I'm coming up on 7 years in VA too, with the break to the Middle East. I have three cats--two sisters (Torrie and Encino) who are 13 years old, and Habibi who came to me in Kuwait. She's half domesticated and half feral. It's been an interesting year acclimating her to the other two. But we're getting there. I would post a picture, but I'm not familiar with how to upload on this system. :? Once I figure that out, I'll get some pics up of the girls. And now back to reading the posts!!!

Welcome aboard. There are several traveling cats in the bunch so if your cats have any questions tell them to grab the key board also.... Sounds like you have a background of experiences and have built in time for a learning curve before taking to far places..... It is also good that you bought now. I tell people that I got my RV right before a retired so that I would remember to retire and why :? .....and not forget and sign up for just one more year..... Life can be much to short and unpredictable to think that the possibilities to explore will stay that way forever..... Have fun reading past posts and if you still post you pass the "sense of humor" test.....

And WOW again. You folks are great! Thanks for all the great welcomes. I feel like I belonger now! :)

Was planning to upload a picture, but it came out GIGANTIC. I have a new blog site, so I linked to the thumbnail on that blog site. However, the picture here came out full sized. Anyone have any hints on how to get pics uploaded here? Thanks in advance!

Yes, three more sleepless nights...and then Foo Foo III is all mine. (Foo Foo was the name of our first family trailer--named after what I then called a harmonica!!). I can hardly wait for Saturday. And then begins the learning process...for once I think I'll RTFM! :o

Thanks again for all the responses so far...I think I've stumbled onto the right site!

Marslet

BAHAHAHHAHAHA! I guess I should have been much clearer! I am a 55 year old with 31+ years of government service. I will retire after I turn 56. I have to say that I'm awfully glad I'm not 33 again! Much better time in this part of my life than when I was 33...altho thinking back, I was living in Greece at the time! hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....ok, now that I've thought about it, it's a better life now!

Welcome and congratulations on your new rig. Arrive early in the day when you pick it up and make them walk you through every system at least once. Take copious notes. Since they have you picking up on Saturday, I'm guessing they don't have you stay overnight at the RV place. That is a great feature of some dealers because you actually get to try things out and ask more questions right away. Be sure to make them show you how to winterize and dewinterize as you will likely need that skill right away. Every rig is slightly different. I'm a very recently retired "civil servant" myself.

Welcome Li!

As a "Left Coaster" I'll look forward to you making your way out here. We have a number of women up & down the coast, so you'll be well covered with alread-made friends by the time you get out here.

If you've got a video camera (or a friend with one) you might consider taking that along when they show you your new rig. You'd be surprised what seems to go in one ear and out the other! ;) But since you've grown up doing the camping/RVing thing I bet you'll pick things up more quickly than you know.

Thanks for joining us! It's always fun here.
