Greetings from the San Antonio Texas area. I'm new to the forum but not new to RVing. Over the years, I have enjoyed "camping" in a pop-up, various travel trailers, class C, small class A, and 5th wheels. Family includes spouse, two grown sons (one in Air Force and one just out of Marines), and three dachsunds. The retirement plans for June 2010 included a 2009 31' 5th wheel and new diesel truck and a long RV trip. June and my retirement from a civilian contracting officer with the Air Force rolled around; however, at the last minute, my husband decided he just couldn't stand giving up his part-time (weekends) job as an events coordinator. I decided that life was too short to wait around forever and I would travel without him. The truck, 5th wheel, and I headed to Florida for 2 1/2 weeks to visit my oldest son who had just returned from Afghanistan. We had a great time and then headed north to Michigan. Since we had family business that needed to be taken care of there, my husband flew up (his family) and spent 2 1/2 weeks in the RV with me. I was there for a month. Next I headed to the RV Hall of Fame in Elk Hart Indiana and on to Indianapolis to visit a friend. From there I headed to Arkansas for a visit with my brother and his family before heading back to Texas. The whole trip went great with the exception of the loss of a vent cover (tree branch 2d to last day) and the electric front jacks going kaput (2d to last day too
). Fortunately jacks were fixed under warranty and vent replaced once I got home. Lest you think that I was completely alone, the 3 dachsunds LOVE to travel and are great travelers. Hubby made a shorter two week trip to Fredericksburg TX with me in October. Guess who still thought he knew more about the RV but didn't
Anyway, next RVing will probably be with cousins coming with 5th wheel from Calgary Canada in January. Can't wait--unless I miraculously get all Christmas shopping done right away and head down to the coast for a couple of days before then. Good to meet you all.
