Exhibit A: I was wondering whether to visit my stepson at the state mental hospital. The universe delivered the best opportunity to do that.
Exhibit B: When I was in Friday Harbor, I found I am MUCH happier working ... and decided I want to return to work. I got a call out of the blue from the editor of the newspaper in Friday Harbor. He's pretty close to offering me a full-time reporting job. But I'm going to pass because I've found that Utah IS home. BUT ... by chance (ha!) I found out a couple of days ago that my friend/old boss from my radio reporting job is now news director at the university NPR radio station (which has a statewide reach). She has already given me one freelance assignment, with more to come, I'm sure. Went to visit with her yesterday and the morning host (another longtime colleague/competitor) asked me if I'd also be willing to sub as host for either Morning Edition or All Things Considered. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is called a "foot in the door!"
Exhibit C: I want to start dating. Immediately I met this lovely gregarious fellow and we went on a couple of dates ... then it went bust. But y'know what? I hadn't been REALLY kissed in a long time. So that was VERY nice. So that dipping toe is now moist.
Other things on my WANT LIST:
Fix my knees: Today I have an appointment with an orthopedic doc to look at my balky knees & figure out how to get me M-O-V-I-N-G again!
A clean house: Hmmm .... maybe Oprah will come!!
Never mind!
