My credit card is thru Bank of America (not fond of the BOA either but like the CC). They have a feature called ShopSafe that gives you a credit card number to use online. Works very slick

What is ShopSafe?

ShopSafe is a free service that allows you to create a temporary card number, expiration date and security code each time you make an online purchase. This number links directly to your real credit card account number but keeps your card number completely private and protected. The ShopSafe number is used just like your credit card—a merchant never knows it's not your real credit card.

No problems so far

I haven't used it but my Citibank cc's allow me to do that also.

Interesting that AVG is so popular. I've used Norton....(Absolutely hated it & so many problems...), then used McAfee for several years but every renewal (after purchasing same) came with more & more problems...locking up my PC, access problems, etc.,etc. Was talking to my daughter (who lives in Southern CA) & she said, try AVG Mom, it's free & it's really great. Was kinda leery, but tried it anyway. I love it! Works great on my old PC (which I also love) & none of the problems I've had with McAfee....So, if anyone out there is experiencing problems with their anti virus software, do try the AVG...it is super!
BTW....thanks for the info on the ShopSafe card...I bank with BofA...not thrilled with them, but my mortgage is with them so I get a free checking acct....Anyway, I'll definitely check it out. Also, I did set up the AAAAAAA@AAA.AAA.....I'm a good listener & if you gals share your info., I always pay strict attention & then follow your advice...Thanks so much.... :D

Looks like, according to Snopes, that the aaa@aaa.aaa thing isn't effective as worms don't necessarily go thru you email list in alphabetical order, and some other things that make it ineffictive.
I have used NAV for years and was going to discontinue with them for all the reasons everyone has listed. I then bought this new laptop and then Comcast has come out with their own free Norton Security software that is free (supposedly a $300 program). So now I switched to that and have had no problems....so far. There is allot of checking and rechecks I have to click thru on some websites. But that does give me the option to continue or not, which I appreciate.
