Saving post as you write - HELP

Postby cpatinjones » Thu Nov 25, 2010 6:01 pm

I just finished composing a post with pics to post here. Lost it all!!!  I will try it again later, but I am frustrated and tired.

Is there a way to save as you write your posting before posting to prevent losing all your work before posting? Does this question make sense?

Losing a post is usually, sorry to say, some type of operator error. I lose them on this computer, because it does all kinds of strange things if I rest my wrist anywhere near the laptops version of a mouse. So I have disconnected that and use a real mouse, and have quit having most of the weird problems. I blame my operator errors on this Toshiba.

That said, before I discovered what I thought the problem was, when I was typing longer messages, I would occasionally highlight the message up to where I was, then do "copy". I use Control C to copy. That would stay in the computer's memory and if I lost the message, I could start over, put in Control V (paste) and up to the point I did the last copy would be available. Just remember, it only remembers your LAST copy. (Technically that isn't true, if you know how to get to your "clipboard" you could get earlier copies, but for all intents and purposes, just forget about that.)

If I'm doing a long post, I write it in WORD, and then copy and paste the whole thing into the forum when ready.

Yes, just put the img code in the place you want the picture.

One thing about this site. You certainly do learn a lot about computers with having to do all the things necessary to post, like Photobucket, Control C and V etc. And there is always somebody out there to give advice. I've learned how to do some thngs on my computer I didn't know about before cause I didn't have need for it. Thanks everybody for your advice when I needed it. :)

Same here after losing so many posts I started to type the message in my word processor then copy it to the forum... but have gotten lazy again and do not do that... but I will get upset again one day when I am typing a long message and lose it...

If rebooting hadn't worked, (which I'll try a few times) then the first thing I suggest is doing a System Restore - easy to do - just go back to the last day you know everything worked properly and restore to that point. You won't lose any documents, etc you saved to then - just and updates to the computer done, or changes made to the computer.
