What we are doing ~ an update of sort

Postby ali1257 » Fri Nov 19, 2010 10:47 pm

Hello friends

Finally have an evening of not running around and we can just settle in for the night so I am doing some catch up stuff.

Motor home ~ got it back on Wednesday. They replaced the oil cooling system. It seems when we had the new engine put in (Spring '08) they used a rubber hose. That is the hose that burst last year November causing over $9000 worth of damage. That is the same thing that happened on 10/27/10. The good thing was that Ron noticed it very quickly and got pulled over before lots of damage was done. Only $2200 this year. Not sure what John from Jerry Chambers told the insurance company but they paid all the repairs this year. And they replaced the cooling system with metal hoses so we won't have another fire. That is what should have happened when the new engine was installed. So now we are back in our home. It felt so good to sleep in our own bed Wednesday night.

Selling Christmas trees ~ we start next Wednesday selling trees for Noel Christmas trees in Edmonds, WA on Highway 99. Not sure of the exact address. Will get that on Sunday afternoon when we go to Redmond to meet with Chuck to pick up our basket of supplies. We will also detour to Edmonds to see where we are going so we have no problems on Wednesday finding the lot. Trees will be delivered next Wednesday to the lot. We are looking forward to starting another new adventure.

Blog updates ~ I have been doing a daily blog post of something I am thankful for. Last Sunday we were asked to share our testimony at church. If you want to read what we shared it is titled "Freedom to Share." You can use my link below to check it out.

Weather outside is frightful...down to 32' right now. Calling for up to 3" of snow overnight and tomorrow.

Got a new to us toad. A 1990 Jeep Wrangler with 77,000 miles on it. Brand new tires. We have all the paperwork of every thing the owner ever did. From oil changes to new tires to all the gas he put into it over time. One year he only drove it 1815 miles! It is a well taken care of rig. And it is cherry red w/black. It is a hard top but we got the soft top, doors and windows for it. Ron says it could be like driving a motorcycle only it is a 2 seater.

That is all from here. Sounds like every one is busy. Wishing each of you a Happy Thanksgiving. Not sure what we will be doing. I am going to make duck in the crockpot with stuffing, gravy and sweet potatoes.

Take care and be safe.

Thanks for the update, Ali! I hope you like selling Christmas trees. I'm anxious to hear what it's like. I think I would rather be selling them down south, though :o Hope you don't have to drive your mh in the snow :( Glad you got it back and they hopefully fixed it for good this time! I would miss my bed, too. I hate hotels!!!

I will miss the smell of fresh-cut balsam this year, for wreaths and boughs, at Christmas time. Trees down here n FL cost upwards of 75.00, I am told! ACK! I have about 40,000 free ones back in my yard at home!

I brought our stockings, one string of lights, some tiny little decorations and a mini-fake tree for our celebration. Melissa and my son are planning to buy an expensive real tree for this first Christmas in their new home.

I sold Christmas trees the December I was in Portland Oregon----they were all expensive even back then in the 60s. It was a fun job, however----loved to see the faces of the kids light up when they chose their favorite tree!

Thnks for the update!
