GOOD MORNING, BIRDIE, AND ALL!
My desktop temperature thingy says it's 33 degrees at home, and my trailer thermometer says it's about 67 degrees here, with the sun still under fog cover this morning. It's supposed to be about a 75 degree day here later----how perfect is that?!
I had the nightmare of my life come true last night when I made my driving debut with Orlando International Airport! First off, when we were about half way there, I realized I had forgotten to bring my purse with all my credit cards, money, and driver's license with us! That alone put the fear of hell in me! I chose a really great route to get there from St. Cloud, and it was perfect-----until we missed an important 'bear right' and ended up way off course, having to get onto a toll road, and go into the airport from a direction I wasn't counting on. I knew I would never be able to find my way out of there without having gone the way my mind was imprinted with the route map. The roads we took were just like my roads at home, one lane each way, with places to turn left, a couple of lights, and some minor construction. We were about the only cars on the road at that time......beautiful way to go. BUT----when we mssed whatever road/veer-off we missed, all hell broke loose. We finally did get there, thanks to some money Sue had to pay the dollar toll for the meager mile and a half we spent on the toll road. The airport is designed with a circular route that surrounds it, and other roads to the various terminals merging off that. We actually found the Jet Blue terminal, which had cars lined up 3 across in front as people were letting others out and saying goodbye. All the while I was wondering how on earth I was going to find my way home. I never thought to re-program Tom Tom for Goog's home address as I was sitting there, so he thought we were still going to the airport!
Anyway, I finally got out of the terminal area, and Goog had said to follow the SOUTH exit out of there and it should bring me right to Boggy Creek Road, which is what I wanted. Suddenly, after following the south exit signs, I saw a sign saying I was about to get on a toll road to Cape Canaveral! I had one exit before that road, and then was on a road all by myself, no signs anywhere, no speed limit, no nothing......just me in limbo-land! I tried to pull over into a little pull-off area to call Goog and reprogram Tom Tom, but a sign said no parking at any time. Remembering I had no license with me, on I trucked....into nowhere land. I finally managed to call Goog, but had no idea where I was so he couldn't help me! I traveled on and finally realized I was back on the roads to the terminals of the airport! I once again followed the signs to south exit, managed to avoid getting onto a toll road that would have taken me to St. Cloud, but, as I had no money and no license, that was a no-go. After crying and feeling as if I were in the beltway around Washington DC, a circle to nowhere, I finally circled yet another time, managed to go under that toll road that time, and discovered Boggy Creek Road! You will never know my relief! By then, it was dark, rush hour, and the road was packed for as far as one could see with bumper-to-bumper traffic, and I didn't care as I could relax and sit back and inch along!
From now on, if anyone wishes to come visit via plane, I will happily pay for the cab fare to get from there and back!!!
I just lost most of my message due to something, and I have no patience to type all over, so I am out of here now-----I so hate to do that. Until later.......have a good day all.
