SUNNY WEDNESDAY MORNING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SUNNY WEDNESDAY MORNING

Postby Colliemom » Wed Nov 10, 2010 8:30 am

Gee, am I the first one up again this morning? Must be the longer nights and shorter days making us all a little lazy these days. But then there are a number of folks down south for winter now and those nice mornings aer too good to waste on computer time.

Going to be a nice day again. Above normal temps and plenty of sunshine. Nobody's complaining, well, maybe those who rely on snow for winter tourism. It will come, always does.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today. Got to do some shopping and errands in town this morning. After that who knows. Thinking about going up to Mackinaw City. There's a neat park by the bridge that the "girls" and I like to go to. Actually it's part of Fort Michilimackinaw State Historic Park and right on the water. Old Mackinaw Point lighthouse is also there. Mackinaw City is pretty well shuttered up for winter now, so nobody around much except just the local population which isn't very large. Its just great weather to be out.

Good Morning, ladies (and Vickie)!

I don't usually post in the AM, but I wanted to share this picture of our grandson, Derrick, coming home from Iraq, being greeted by his wife, Danielle.

A reporter snapped the photo and it was published, I think, in the LA Times. Danielle made this her profile picture yesterday (to commemorate the U.S. Marine Corps' 235th birthday), and it just reminded me how much these young men and women sacrifice to help keep the rest of us safe at home. Thank you for your service.

Good morning Sue and all the sleepy heads out there...
Oh Sue I had a friend that had cabins along Lake Michigan shore in the St Park... hard to remember but I believe it was 3 or 4 cabins and a large one they used... there were very few privately owned pieces of land... they would have a lot of fishermen stay there... it was simply beautiful... we stayed there a couple of times... it was over the 4th weekend one year it was chilly in the tent for the children... then my husband and I went there another time in Sept.. when they sold they sold to the state... (the other private owners did not want them to sell to the state} the night after the papers were signed someone set the cabins on fire they all burned down... it was so very sad as Wally and June put their hearts and souls in building those cabins... there was also a natural spring where they got their water... Wally capped the spring and they had all the water they ever wanted... little piece of history...
I did get a lot of things done yesterday... am sore in my sides for doing it but guess it had to be done... whenever I wake up I will do some more... takes me a while to move...
When you go get a piece of fudge for me... forgot to stop when I went through last year...
Thank you Mitch for the great photo and I second the thank you to all of our military at home and abroad...
I trust everyone has a memorable day

Good morning Ladies!

Just turned my computer on to check my e-mail.

Sitting here sipping my coffee for a few mins, before I'm out the door.

Today is my weekly shopping day, I try to get as much as I can at Walmart, so I don't have to go out again for a while.

Thanks for the picture, Mitch, that's awesome! Sooo glad he's home safe and sound and back with family. When you talk to them give them a huge Thank You and cyber hug from SoCal!

Not much going on here, just got back from playing on the rocks in Nevada..had a great time, but we got some bad news while we were there. BF's dad went into the hospital for the not eating thing that he was up in Oregon for a few weeks ago and when they removed his gallbladder they found extensive cancer. Gave him 2 weeks to a month, so BF is getting ready to go up there until everythings over. He's 95 and has been in excelent health (other than a touch of dementia) until all of this, so to my way of thinking, he's been pretty lucky. BF had been pretty much estranged from his dad until 3 years ago when I pretty much forced him to go see him. Glad I won that argument, and I think Mickey is glad, too. Not that he would admit it.

Gonna call Evie this morning and ask her if she wants to meet me at Polly's for breakfast and then load up that entertainment cabinet for Barbie so I can get it over to her place today since she's working the rest of the week. Evie's like me, early riser, but Barbie probably sleeps in, so I'll call her later. Hope everyone has a great day and warmer than here, only supposed to get up to 68 today, low temp for this time of year.

My thanks also for the pic and give your nephew (and his wife) my sincere gratitude for his sacrifice. Nice weather week here in NW Ohio, forecast temp mid to upper 60s all this week. Will probably try to get last few leaves out to the curb since the city has started picking up this week. Will be the last time (said that last time lol) this season. Hoping to get insurance check today so can schedule the repairs for my little mishap in NH. Then want to start working on getting base plate and brake package on Jeep for towing. Hope you all have great days.

Mitch - What a great pic of your grandson Derrick and his wife Danielle. Very handsome couple. Thank them for their service and sacrifice. Appreciate all they have done!!

Some cloudiness today but will see sunshine later I'm sure - central coast of CA.

Sharon, sorry for BF's dad. That cancer is such a horrid thing! But, he got 95 years which is a long life.

A huge THANK YOU to all our service men and women, present and past. What a huge commitment they make. Love the pic of Derrick! What a wonderful "frozen in time" memory.

Sharon, glad you are home safely and sorry to hear about Mickey's Dad. Will keep the family lifted in prayer.

Not much on my agenda today. It's in the 30s this AM, only got in the 40s yesterday for highs. Snow levels are coming down again in the passes. Skiers are happy.

Coffee is hot and tastes good this morning!
Have a blessed day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Just out of bed and the sun is shinning! Haven't seen it for a few days, it has been pouring buckets. Loved the photo, great timing coming home near Veterans Day. I was up till 3am scanning old slides and the box I am currently working on is from Kingsley Field AFB, Klamath Falls, 1969-1971. Brought back many memories of our time in the Air Force and the Viet Nam era. I'm sure some of you remember it well. Veteran's Day should be important to us all. Without our soldiers who would protect us through all these awful times.

Now to make some coffee. How many of you are using a coffee press? Makes the most wonderful coffee ever without electricity. Since I found out how to use it I have switched over even when I don't have to.

Have a wonderful day.

Mitch what a beautiful picture. I remember the day our son, Jamie, came home from a year in Iraq. So much relief and gratitude flowed that day.

Woke up to sunny skies today. Lovin the sunshine. Slept in this morning as hubby was up early and out the door for the mens breakfast and Bible study. He missed going while we were traveling this past summer.

Update on motor home: insurance company finally came through (after our agent lit a fire under the adjuster's butt) and we should eb getting it back this Thursday or Friday. Can't wait to get back home. The condo is nice but it is not home. We have lots to do before heading out to go sell Christmas trees. Am getting eager to start decorating and playing Christmas music ~ my favorite!

Today I am working at the church for a few hours. Tomorrow we are going to Applebees for lunch - veterans eat free so hubby will get free lunch.

Hope everyone is having a great day! Thanks again for the picture Mitch.

Great picture, Mitch - and a good time (all times are good times) to remember to thank all those who have, are, or will be serving our country.

Sharon, glad you had a good trip, but so sorry to hear about Mickey's dad. I'm glad the 2 of you were up there recently for a visit. And glad that Mickey can go and spend these last few weeks with him. Good on you forcing that reunion! Hugs to all of you.

My first full day today - so slept in as much as I could today. My worry? That instead of falling right to sleep when I get home (after walking Peaches), I'll be wired and unable to sleep. Going to hope that doesn't happen :) Whatever happens, will make it work.

Have a great day everyone.

Beth, hope your first day goes well and sleep comes easily. I know what you mean, tho. When I worked and got off at 1AM I never fell asleep right away either. I had to get up early to see husband off to work and kids off to school, too. Made for short sleeping hours. Take care and don't get run down.

Thanks for sharing the pic and story with us Mitch, great that it was published, there's always so much bad news in papers and news reports, this reminds us all of the great sacrifice the soldiers are giving.

Sharon, I know Mickey is glad he gets to spend time with his father and I'll remember yall when I talk to the man upstairs.

Thanks for the picture Mitch. Very touching and shows the sacrifices these young people are making today.

My dad served in the Army during WWII and although he was stateside the whole war (leg cramps prevented too much marching), he served with distinction and made Staff Sargeant before wars end. I'm proud of him for being a soldier and I am sorry that this country waited so long to recognize the sacrifices of these men and women. Too many of them have passed on already.
