We are packing and stowing and getting ready to make it to my son's today, maybe. The weather is cool as that cold front went past yesterday, but hopefully we will have good travel weather today.

I'll bet you are getting excited. The last leg of your journey is about to begin. You've done great so far. Overcome and conquered obstacles and stuck to the course. Way to go girl. Prety soon you will be writing about being under the FL sun while all the rest of us "northerners" who are stuck home, will be freezing in snow, ice and rains etc.

As for me, my chore for today is clean house However I don't want the dust bunnies taking over. And it's too chilly outside to do anything, not that there's much to do anyway. It's snowing along the west side shoreline of the state, but no big deal. And of course th furkids will want their daily walk. Got to enjoy those before snows come and restrict where we can go, mostly on the road here. BORING. And also cleaning out my computer desk as I have a buyer for it coming over tonight. Letting it go since I am going with my laptop for now. This old desktop is wearing out and is heading for recycle.

Got my knee fixed up yesterday. It had somehow slipped down and sideways out of it's normal position. So my great lady chiropractor got out her adjusting tool and went to work on it. Got me all fixed up again. It's still sore, but takes about 24 hours to straighten out. I just keep on chugging. Been there done that.

Good Morning Soos and Sue oh my no coffee here was hoping one of you would make it so I will do it... have a cup and enjoy yourself... Soos is up and gone already bet she gets some coffee on the road... You are a busy lady Sue... what do you do in the winter? puzzles or craft work or what...
No more word from my son so no news is good news... his call last evening made my day...
Margie and I got a lot of things stowed away in the motor home... I see that I need to re sort some like my huge box with tools, ropes, chains... will not need so much will get rid of the ropes and chains...
After I get finished with my coffee and waking up I will try to vacuum as I have a repair man coming for my fire place he will be here at 1pm want to get that up and running before I leave... my fingers are cracked already with the winter... that will clear up when I get out of the cold...

Had a great visit with Pooker yesterday! Was thinking about going to either Idyllwild up in the mountains or San Juan Capistrano by the beach today, but decided to stay home today and get some things done around here instead. Need to save my money by not spending it on gas and shopping right now. Have bills coming up soon.

Have plenty to do around here today. Finish unpacking, reading, laundry, upload photos (finally!), etc. Might even look for a small part-time job to suppliment my income for now.

Just read that there were two earthquakes out here. One last night just north of the border of Mexico (4.6) and another one this morning in Long Beach (3.8) but didn't feel a thing here.

My advise to you as a former Californian, get some "earthquake putty" from Walmart for any knick knacks or pictures you hang on the walls. Welcome to California - earthquakes are no big deal and most of them you won't even notice. Your first biggy will be a heart thumper but they don't last long and they're more rare than tornadoes in Texas.

I've actually been thinking "earthquake" as I have been shopping for things like bookshelves. Don't want to get a tall one that could fall over. Even if I fastened it to the wall, the books would probably go flying off anyways, so would rather have two shorter bookshelves for that reason. What department is the putty in? Hardware? Does it damage the walls or paint at all?

Well, as a long-time CA resident, I don't worry so much about what might fall during an earthquake. I was less than 20 mi. from the epicenter of the big Northridge earthquake in the 90s, on the THIRD floor of my townhouse, and I lost one vase that was sitting on the fireplace mantle. If you have lots of breakables and it makes you feel better, tack them down.

The bigger issue during an earthquake is water, power, and the ability to get supplies if you need them. If power is out for long periods of time you can't access your money -- it's done electronically. So are the gas pumps. I keep at least $100 cash in my cars AND my trailer (in small bills) and work hard to keep the gas tanks at least 1/2 full. I also have an RV water hose next to my hot water tank, as that's 50 gal. of fresh water that's safely strapped to the wall (a CA code requirement). All I have to do is shut off the water main into the house and I've got plenty of water for a week if I'm careful.

There are plenty of websites that will tell you what you need to be prepared. I think it's a personal thing, and have planned accordingly.

If we ever have a big earthquake while I'm at school ... that's a scary thought.

Thanks for the info! I should at least have some stuff in my car just in case, too. In MN, we would have an emergency kit in our cars in case we ended up lost and/or stranded in a snowstorm (ie; blankets, batteries, flashlights, candy bars, etc.)

Living in Alaska we always did both. Emergency food/water/radio/cash etc and also traveled with extra tools/blankets/tow ropes etc in vehicles. Kept extra gas in the shed along with extra heating oil for the furnace. Saved plastic milk jugs and filled them with water and stored them in the basement for toilet flushing.
