Linda, I never worked for Amazon before, but worked at The Company Store - similar environment - much the same. My job will be different - which is fine - and I know what they do. Good money for a short period of time and, so far, I like this part of Kentucky - even if it is chillier than I prefer. I'll be heading south soon enough. And had similar weather in the summer in AK, and loved it there. So, it's a matter of dressing for what I'm doing. Good luck finding yourself another job. If you are flexible in what you want, you'll find something!

Peaches is a trooper - she'll be fine, even if given the opportunity she'll tell everyone how mean I am. (Actually, she tells everyone how great I am - even after I abandon her for long hours! - silly girl, can't help herself - as I can't help myself about her.)

I guess I missed something along the way... Is this Amazon.com you are working for or some other company? Is it just for the holiday season? How long will you be working there? Is the pay pretty good?

Yes, it's Amazon. Yes, it's just for the holiday season - till Christmas. Considering site and utilities are paid, yep, pay is good for a workamping job. And if all goes well, will hope to be getting about 10 hours of overtime a week for the last 3-4 weeks. That will make up for them pushing my start date back 2 weeks and only part-time the first week. Next week - full-time. And off we go ....

Yesterday was my first day on the floor. Hardest part for me is going to be knowing where I am in the building and how to get to another area without getting lost I have a great sense of direction when driving - doesn't work for me inside. Takes awhile - then it's a cinch. Finally.

Oh, and MUCH improvement on campgrounds. Here in Utah you cannot stay more than two weeks at a given campground. Have to move for 2 weeks and come back. Same rules there?

No, Janice, in fact this cg normally closes the end of Oct, but stayed open just for Amazon They also have part time hours - some do 5 days of 4 or 5 hours shifts. Less hours, but what they want. I want all the hours I can get And Peaches manages just fine - couldn't do this necessarily with an older dog - but she's used to going long hours as necessary. There is a cg that some can walk to work - but that was full by the time I got the job. This is about 8 miles away - 10-15 minute ride, no biggie. Especially since I'm carpooling with another lady - we will make sure to keep each other awake on the ride home in the middle of the night.

Beth...Would like to hear more about what your job is like. If the worst part is finding your way around, it must not be bad! I could do the part time shift, but couldn't leave Rags for the full time, plus overtime hours. How long is training for new people? I may have to consider it next year. Would you get a recruiting bonus? It''s nice you have someone to carpool with.

Still searching for my second job. Not feeling as motivated as I should. Probably because it's been many years since I've worked 2 jobs. I've been off work since the end of Sept, too, so hard to get back into the grind. Sure wish I could have found a workamping job that paid for hours worked, plus my site. That would solve this problem.

Linda, Would be glad to tell you as much as I can - especially after the season - when I'll know all of it. My training will be the one week (this week) as I'll be put into the full-time schedule next week. Some have been getting 2 weeks of training - but that's cuz it wasn't as busy. So, I'll still have support, but the crew that started this week with me are only getting one week (which is really normal) training.

None of the jobs are hard, really - just need to learn the system. Free water on the floor (bottled and water coolers). Free coffee, tea or hot chocolate in the break rooms. Sites are covered for water, electric - most cg's have sewer, but I elected to stay in the state park with honey wagon, and wifi. This is for the KY location - I can't speak for any of their other locations. I have had several people offer to let Peaches out if necessary - many do that for others on their days off - or on opposite shifts. I know she can handle it - so prefer to not do that for now. If it becomes a problem, will re-think that. So, if you want the hours so you can do a job like now for site, and take some time off working part of the year - fulltime isn't a bad deal . They start taking on workampers as early as August - with the big influx of them coming mid-Oct to early-Nov.

You do have to be able to be on your feet all the hours - with the exception of your breaks, whether part of full time.

There is a program for referrals, yes.

Beth, Just curious - since you are a little farther north than you usually are this time of year, how will you keep your water etc from freezing.
