POST ELECTION WEDNESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

POST ELECTION WEDNESDAY

Postby Colliemom » Wed Nov 03, 2010 5:56 am

Good Morning Everyone,

Well, the elections are over. Still a few hangups out there, but they will straighten up eventually. So now let come what may.

Had frost on the deck this morning, so it must have stayed clear last night. Too dark to tell what kind of morning it is out there yet. Supposed to have rain later on this morning and turning colder. Rain/showers in forecast after today and more WIND. Might have minor snow accumulation but grounds warm, so it won't stay around. This weekend and next week look mild again.

Going to get the stone chip in my windshield fixed. That was compliments of a truck passing me on Sunday. If it had been down about 3 inches lower, it would have deflected off my wiper blade. GRRRR, brand new truck too. Oh well, those things happen. Actually, with all the sand thats spread on our roads here in winter, and the many times I have passed the salt/sand trucks on the road, I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. According to my insurance agent, I haven't filed a clain on any type of window repair in over 8 years. Luck I guess.

So have a great day everyone.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

We are at the Fayetteville KOA this morning, having arrived here yesterday afternoon after a sunny, dry day of driving. Route 17 from I 81 over to I 95 is a beautiful route----am so glad a friend of mine suggested that to me. Going through Richmond was a piece of cake.

My gas mileage has now dropped to 11.8 mpg, no matter how I drive----whether at 55mph or 60mph, with cruise control on or off. We stayed at 13.6 for a long time, and now have dropped. Why? I checked the tire pressure last night, and all tires are right where they belong at 50psI. My tire monitor is still not adjusted correctly, and is telling me all tires are at about 23 pounds. Any ideas here, Pete? Do you adjust your temperature settings as the temps change outside? Mine is set at the factory setting, and maybe this has something to do with how it's warning me? I just haven't had the time to call the company back yet.

Weather is about to change to intermittent rain today, steady rain and wind tomorrow, and colder. I guess we will pack up and head further south and try to find a campground in which to stay through tomorrow and the worst of the front coming.

This KOA is beautiful---huge, spacious sites, dog walk fenced in area, super-nice work-camping hosts, and a place where I have stayed in years gone by. Free Wifi! Cable TV, and all the other usuals. Sue was glad to get a hot shower last night. But the time of lounging is over, and we now have to stow and go once again.

I backed up the trailer about 20 yards yesterday at a gas station where I had pulled in and the pump was out of order----I had to back up to the other pump! I did it, and didn't even take out any pumps! I feel proud of that. :)

Off we go...I cannot wait to get safely to my son's house. Maybe, with any luck, I will have wifi tonight and can get back on here. If not, until I can, happy trails to everybody.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning... Sue and Soos thanks for the hot coffee...
The dentist called and wanted me to come in yesterday at 3 instead of today... so I went in... they had an emergency a little girl broke her front tooth and they had to fix that so my appointment wound up to be 4:30 I got out of there at 6... after working putting things in the basements of Bright Hope before the appointment I was tired... but had to go to Walmart to get a handle for my inside toilet that broke yesterday morning... I put the the installation job aside untill today and used the front bathroom...
They will not have the crown in until the 15th or 16th so my date to leave is after that one... I have chosen to not get the wisdom tooth out till spring... that saves me some $300... so that is gas for a couple of days or maybe one day...
Good to see your post Soos... always feels good to take a warm shower... we stayed at KOS's in the 70s on our way to California in December... they were very good then and clean too... hope this day is as great as yesterday for you two travelers...
Until later have a super day everyone...

Glad things are going better for you Soos. Sorry to hear about your windshield Sue.
Kathleen you said.. "that saves me some $300... so that is gas for a couple of days or maybe one day"... what kind of mileage do you expect Bright Hope to get?
I don't have much planned today, I've done all the work I intend to do this morning. Hope nothing unexpected turns up!
I am so glad the elections are over so I can answer my phone again. We had election calls day and night which were so annoying. Last I heard they hadn't called the governors race yet here in Illinois.
It's been cloudy here the last couple of days but STILL no rain.

If I am lucky I get about 8 mpg... Bright Hope has 10 cylinders... MH's just do not get good mileage... sadly to say...

Also glad the elections are over! Both governors in MN and CA that I would have voted for, won without my vote, so happy about that! Hopefully, now, they will take down all the signs all over the street corners, etc!

It is going to be 95 today here! Tomorrow I am going to meet Pooker for a mini get-together to see what she is giving away (furniture) and maybe go swimming in one of the pools there. It is supposed to be 96 tomorrow so that would be refreshing! Then I might head on up to Idyllwilde, a cute little mountain town and check that out. Should be cooler up there.

Gotta get ready for work now. Hopefully, it will be busy so I can make some decent tip money again!

Soos, glad you kept going and are having a better experience!

Morning!
Happy day-after-election day! :D I'm so glad that's over. Most of my favorites got in but a few races are too close to call. So we wait and get to hear all about mis-counts etc. So it goes.

I slept awful last night. THe wind howled and pine boughs slammed against the house all night. So glad I got the backyard raked and mowed yesterday. I was surprised this morning that the backyard doesn't have too many leaves, but my patio is almost covered with pine needles. ;)

Still very windy today, but with nice temps again. I will get the front yard mowed. I see the neighbor's leaves blew into my yard, per usual. Hopefully the mower will get those up without having to rake first. I also need to prune back the rose bushes.

BUT first I need to eat, shower and get Choco in for his nail trim. I would also like to get in and get a haircut.

Sue, sorry about the ding but when you live in climates where road sanding is the norm, it's expected. After 21 yrs in Alaska we learned to drive with dinged/cracked windshields as it was almost fruitless to get it fixed. Dings in the paint was also the norm as well as loosing hubcaps as the ice on the roads would sometimes get 4-5 in. thick and then get potholes in it. Front end alignments were done regularly, too.

Thanks for checking in Soos. Hope you get some calm sunny weather soon. Safe travels.
I'm outta here!

I told Kathleen that I average 9.9 mpg. And know many with one like hers averaging 8-9,5 - so hopefully she'll do better than she thinks. They've gotten much better than in the past years (pre 1995 or so).

And good afternoon! Got up in time to take Peaches on about an hour walk - while getting pictures of gulls, and ducks and, I believe, a king fisher (will know better when I get the pics off the camera). Peaches was a trooper yesterday for her first 9 hour day alone. Rest of this week will be about 6 hours - then next week will start in on the regular schedule, where Peaches will be telling the world I'm a mean mommie, leaving her 11 hours! She'll be just fine. She's a trooper and understands it means we get to go to FL and TX and visit all her friends - because Mom will have some money (hopefully) in the bank again.

Drizzly day here - makes it feel cooler - but was refreshing for our walk. Just keeps my little heater going inside when no sun outside. I like it cold overnight - and will have that chance this weekend - when the nights get in the upper 20's :)

Yay, Soos! You go! Knew you could, and glad you're feeling more confident! Maybe your reduced gas mileage has to do with getting off the Interstate and more stops & starts through towns, etc.? Your mileage isn't too bad, considering you're hauling a TT. That's about what my B gets.

I had my 6 mos. cardiologist appt. today. All is well, but I have to go back next week for an ultrasound of left arm....just to make sure the stent is working well? Grrr....these drs. irk me....I think they run tests unnecessarily, but not being a dr., I don't want to refuse his recommendation just in case.

We got a little rain yesterday and more possible....really needed here. It's supposed to be a lot cooler (60s) this weekend and a possibility of frost overnight.

Beth, glad Peaches is adjusting. My dog Blossom has to spend about 13 hours alone when I work. But luckily I work nights so she mostly sleeps. But then I come home in the morning and we go for a walk, she gets breakfast and then its back to bed ha ha ahhhh the life of my dog. I usually get up around 2pm so we have our loving time too, then I take her out again around 4:30 for a walk before I go to work again.

It helps that I only work 3 nights a week. I try to work them all together then I have a group of days off so she adapts very well.

Foggy here at the coast this morning but mild. Its my 4 day off stretch so we went for a long walk and it felt really good. I have cleaning the MH on my agenda as it gets a bit cluttered (for some unknown reason) when I am working . And of course always need a vacuuming.

Glad to hear Soos is doing so well. Inclement weather can always cause us anxiety so glad she is getting further south. I am glad she has a friend with her too for moral support.

well my cleaning is calling ..sigh

See Soos, you can do this. You are sounding better already. You just have to take what ever problems you face and work through them.

I brought 3 more cats to the spay and neuter clinic this morning. My DH rode with me because I was bringing him to pick up his truck at the shop so he got to see the circus of people dropping off and picking up their pets. The people that work there are so nice when I'm sure they would like to shake some of the people that come in. I have to go back in the morning and he said he didn't need to go back.
