I'm overwhelmed

Postby avalen » Sat Oct 30, 2010 12:42 pm

Ok, I'm taking a break and need to vent. I'm am so totally overwhelmed I've got
the shakes. Emptied out under my bed (all my quilting fabric collection) and a lady
is coming over to pick it up. Daughter wanted all my old family photo's and of
course going thru all those was not a good thing but they are all packed up and
ready to make their way to her condo in a few minutes. So now I'm repacking stuff
under the bed I won't need for the duration but need to hang onto and don't want
to chance letting it be in an outside storage bay that could get broke into. I will
leave that space for stuff that is easily replaceable.
I've had to rearrange my schedule for today. Some of the things I wanted to do, I
won't be doing and then I'll see what the day holds for me. I know these things have
to be done but I'm making myself sick all in one day. Its not the first time my
anxiety has got the best of me. I keep telling myself to slow down, the lease doesn't
end til December 31 but I'm hoping to get all the move done by Thanksgiving.
Ok, I'm off to the bank and daughters condo for now. I'll check back in later, and
maybe read a little roo-rahs from you girls. Now don't ask me where I came up
with that word roo-rah, its a technical term, means "come on girl, you can do it"
sort of.

Ava, don't overdo it in one day! Packing, sorting, etc. can be emotional, especially going thru family photos! Slow down woman! You'll get it done with plenty of time before Thanksgiving. Now, I've tried to think of things that rhyme with roo-rahs and can't come up with anything, so I can't make up a chant for you, but that's probably a GOOD thing!

Yes listen to Vickie slow down take a deep breath and do small chunks at a time... I have been stressed out about packing and leaving now with my dental work that has slowed me way down... so I put a pile by the door and when I go I out take it to the MH... when that is done that is enough... Pace yourself Ava and remember we are on your side... wish we could go out for a cup of coffee and chat but maybe one day we will... for now take it slowly... change is very hard but after you get there you look back and say boy am I glad that is over...

Roo-rah. Good word. Do what it means. And what they said above me - slow down.

Song just came to me... slow down, you move too fast. got to make the morning last. ...

Slow down Ava. Deep breaths. Follow your own advice, you have until Dec. 31 so no real rush. If you do have to get something out of storage, it's not a big deal, just an inconvenience. The storage lot is close by, not in another state. :D It will all get done. Linda

phew, another chore checked off the list, got the photos over to daughters, stopped
and got the new tags for the car, that was a must as they expire tomorrow. I used one
of those private outfits authorized by motor vehicle, only cost me an extra $5 but was
well worth it cause it was saturday and there was no one else in there. I could have saved
myself the $5 by doing it online but then I'd have to wait for it to come in the mail and
I certainly couldn't take a chance of driving on expired tags Monday morning. Went to
Camping World and picked up the sealer stuff, it was cheaper than I thought but LaMesa
RV was closed so I didn't get the window garnish.
Lunch is in the microwave and then I'm gonna get a shower and relax. I've turned on my
standard saturday tv lineup and can sit and work during my routine. I think it will be less
stressful.

Roo Rah is right Ava. You are not on a deadline like you have to have this all done by November 1st. You have until December 31st. Just take it one thing at a time and it will all fall in place. Nothing is worth getting stressed over in the long run.

You are getting a storage unit. If you don't have time to mess with something, put it in a box, mark the box and off to storage it goes. So what if you have to drive over to storage to get it. You can go through it when you have more time. Just get the essentials that you know you will need and go from there. There are bound to be things you want to give away and throw out and all that. Those are things that can be gone through over the winter even if you have to spend a day just sitting in the storage unit going through a box or something. Dont make rush decisions. You spent a lot of time and thought in laying out your plans for right now, so you can do the same with all the stuff. :)

Sounds as if you are already calming yourself down...excellent work I would say. Take the breaks that you need and you'll get through it...one foot in front of the other...one box at a time :)

What they all said. Roo Rah, Roo Rah, Go slo, Go slo, Go slo, Slo go, Slo go, Slo go, Roo Rah!!!!!

Now I went thru that same thing last year when I was down sizing to go full-time in my TT. I ended up with 25 plus or minus boxes that I put yellow duct/duck tape on and said they have to be at the front because I'll be needing to get into them. I put a number on every box that I put in storage. I had a tablet that I wrote what was in that box. Like
#41. cookware, pots, pans and skillets
#42. silverware, pancake turners, grilling forks, large glass pitcher,
#43. work and funeral clothing, belts, purses
#44. electronic stuff, recording machines, disc writers, software, cables, and other junk for that

So now soon as I find that marvelous writing pad I can find the electronics that has the GPSIII Plus that I just traded and need to make the trade. Don't lose the writing pad!!

So do your thing girl!

I remembered a very old football cheer.... ;) Changing the 1st word from Rah to Roo...here we go...

Roo-Rah Ree, kick them in the knee....Roo-Rah Rass, kick them in the A---

Okay, this has nothing to do with packing and moving, but at least maybe you'll get a laugh.... ;)

Things will get done, Ava...take it a day at a time....

Sometimes it's hard to slow down, but you may as well take some time to do "everything" and enjoy the process !! Like someone said, if it gets down to the end, box stuff up, label it and put it in storage - there'll be time later !
This has nothing to do with it - but I thought a picture of a sloth in a box would remind you to slow down (you probably don't want to slow down to sloth speed, but somewhere between cheetah and sloth would be good)

Roo-Rah!!! "Come on girl, you can do it!"

Having said that, I agree with the others ... you can -- and need -- to pace yourself. It do think it's a good idea to give yourself a deadline before the REAL deadline. But girl! You're a month before the DBTD (Deadline Before The Deadline). Take it a step at a time. Remember to eat. Let yourself rest.

Just remember when you are feeling the fear ... that the fear is (almost always) worse than the thing you're afraid of. If that makes any sense at all.

Besides, those things I'm afraid of rarely happen. It's the stuff I don't see coming that gets me.
