SNOWY SATURDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SNOWY SATURDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Oct 23, 2010 7:45 am

We have about an inch of snow on the ground again this morning, and it's about 27 degrees out there. I let my wood fire die way down last night, so am now resurrecting it. I should make a last run to the dump today, as one week from now I should be on the road. Holy Cow! Scary thought!

I read the OldMan's thoughts about Flying Js from yesterday, and I don't mind any amount of noise at night---but will try to avoid diesel exhaust fumes that could infiltrate my lungs all night. The truck stops on this coast seem to have 'sections' for RVers apart from truckers, I have been told, so we shall see how that works. As for mom and pop truck stops on our highways here in the east, those are non-existent!

Some day, down the line, when/if I become better at hauling my TT, I would like to try using the old Route 9 south (or north) rather than the modern 95. When I first traveled to FL, Route 9 was the only way to go. I suspect it might be quite abandoned at this point in time.

I have no big plans for today after the dump run, other than just getting little last-minute chores done, like stapling my snow fence/protection barrier up so that whoever is staying here can push snow off the deck, or shovel it off. I use the snow fence as a child barrier and animal barrier to falling off the high-up front deck in the warm months. If the snow melts off, I need to still cover my woodpiles, too.

This is the day in infamy that I will remember forever----my English teacher made the obvious, yet not at that time relevant-to-me comment that there would "never be another October 23rd 1953." And how right on he was! Why on earth some things uttered by people in our lives stick with us forever, whereas other seemingly more important facts disappear from the brain cell connections as soon as they are heard, is a puzzle! This, and "PV/T = P-1 V-1/ T-1, which you will remember to your dying day!" (Comment about Boyle's Law made by one of my physics teachers.)

Coffee is hot, it's still very cold outside, the snow is not going away yet, Molly is patiently staring me in the face, silently asking for her breakfast----so off I go to tackle this Saturday in the north country.

Happy Saturday to you all, wherever you may be!

Good Morning Soos and all,

I see winter has arrived in your neck of the woods Soos. How much snow do you usually get up there during winter?
It's cloudy here but the sun has broken out through them. Supposed to be a nice morning fr awhile, but rain and wind on the way. And a major storm developing to our southwest, due in here on Tuesday. Getting close to "Gales of November" time. Major storms with high winds and rains/sleet etc., Not a mariner's time to be on the Great Lakes but necessary as cargoes need to be moved before ice sets in and the locks close up at Sault Ste. Marie in January.
I'm going to check and clean out a couple of gutters and then head up to town to pick up a few things. Want to install inside storm windows on my breezeway windows, the kind you put up and shrink with hair dryer. Good project for windy, rainy days.
The last of the leaves will probably come down this week if all this rain and wet develops, so by next weekend, should be able to finish cleaning up outside.Might do one more cut of grass if weather permits. Too wet in the mornings now. Then I guess it will be wait for winer to come. Snowblower is back and ready to go, the little one needs a new plug installed and cleaned up and off we go. Will do that one day. Then I guess it will be work in the house and get it cleaned up, repaint laundry room (just to freshen it up) and get things ready to market it next spring if not before. Keeps me out of trouble. Also thinking this might be a jigsaw puzzle winter. They seem to go in streaks from one year to the next. And I want to make a scrapebook of my camping adventures.

Good Morning from much needed rainy Normal... this will be a gray day but that is fine... my cold is not going away not a bad one... it is quiet this morning as Shadow does not have Peaches to play with... it was so fun watching them... he did go to the front bedroom to look for her but now he is at my feet...
I will start making my lists today for my packing the MH Bright Hope... not sure when we can go as it will now depend on the dentist... do not want to be here when the snow flies but who knows...
Sue that should help keep the wind and snow from your house... my daughters in MI use the shrink for their windows... it is a good thing to have... Soos using as many free places to park will really cut down your expenses... I try to stop where it does not cost because it takes me so long to get to FL... I do not go far in a day...
Drive careful everyone

Late AM here. Looks like we got light rain during the night and I checked the weather radar and a huge line of rain is about an hour or so away, going directly to the town where my 2 GDs are playing soccer. That means Grammy needs to go prepared to get wet! I think the girls are going to spend the night with me. Their Mom (my DD), can drop them off after church tonight, then hopefully we can all get together tomorrow for some hardy beef stew that I'm making. Love comfort food on cold rainy days!

Wishing everyone a great day! Hugs to those who need one. (don't we all?).
