I agree, Sharon. Would be wonderful to have our first PNW/west coast official GTG!!

Florida 2010 happened because Liz set the dates......Arkansas 2010 happened (even though the full story will never be told.... :o ) because Mitch and Vickie said "Let there be a party!" and see if anyone notices........so.......how about planning one far in advance ....right before a group decides to head up to Alaska....we could say it was on the way :)

Who's going to Alaska?? Did I miss something? Death Valley is gorgeous in May, but it's totally dry camping, rest rooms but no showers.

So, Sharon, start a post in the GTG room - make a place - Death Valley in May for example, and set a date - and those who can come, will. Point being made is that - you have to set it up - and then people who can, will sign on.

In other words, you west coasters need to MAKE a gtg happen. Boondocking or not - some won't come to a boondocking gtg (like Port Lavaca) is - others will. Some of us prefer them!

After having researched the pictures, if it was just me and The Beast, I'd be the first one there!
It looks absolutely beautiful!

ON EDIT: by "The Beast", I meant Abby, not George...just so ya know...

Yep, Mitch, that's exactly what she - or one of those left-coasters - should do. The reason they think there are so many everywhere else in the country - is we do gtg's LOL - and Sharon is good and travels to them. If I could come, I would - doubt that would be a good time of year for me with workamping a must this year, but you never know.

Tried that for a WA GTG but couldn't get anyone to agree on where or when.

Now that we have completely stolen this thread.... I appreciate the stress of the gtg "planner" "What if I pick a date and place and no one comes! " But from listening/reading about the start up of any of the gtgs.....there is that part where the possible dates are all over the place. Suggestions are all over and that no one set of dates works for all the responders.... You have to go with places and dates that make sense for you and maybe your partner in crime and sit back and wait.... :)

Hmmm...partner in crime....guess I'm gonna have to wait for Miss Evie to get back from wherever she is....She's out galivanting in Fliter for the next week or so. Last time I planned one, no one came, so I'm a little gun shy now. Guess I'm just not as loved as the Doofus Twins....

Read the above couple posts. It will never happen if you wait for that. Ask Liz - the one year FL didn't have a gtg is the year she kept waiting on everyone to agree. Told her to plan it the next year - and yep, they came. Same as she just posted when and where this year.

No guarantees people will come, but I don't think we've ever had one that no one signed on to. PA was pretty quiet this year, but still a couple people made it.

Yep, we stole kd's intro thread. Hopefully it'll be worth it and kd will make it to a west coast gtg. :)

Sorry kd, but I have to put in my 2 cents here too!

I am planning to visit Death Valley in spring 2011, but May is too late for me because I will be back to Texas for April, May and June. I'm thinking early March will be good for me and for wildflower show in Death Valley. Also, I'll be car camping as my rig will be in Austin (don't ask, it's too confusing!).

And now I'm going over to the gtg room, stay tuned.....
