RVer's High Tea

Postby Shirlv » Mon Sep 22, 2008 3:06 pm

My family is going through "I can't handle one more thing". Oldest daughter going for surgery, her son-in-law's ears swelled shut from infection, she is taking him to the doctor, his wife started a new job and can't leave, I am watching the baby until her aunt gets home. In the meantime youngest daughter calls, her daughter totaled her car and she is taking her to the Urgent Care office. I am finally home and need a drink but will settle for tea because they might call again. Barbzeee's mention of smores is haunting me because I have never had one. I fixed tea made from loose tea, lite a candle, roasted a marshmallow and made a smores. RVer's High Tea is born. Please tell me it doesn't have to be made around the campfire.

I'd say under the circumstances a raw s'more would have been acceptable !!!

Good luck to you all - Have another S'more ...

Sorry to hear about all the troubles coming your family's way.

BUT smores made in the microwave are great too. I tried it one night and it worked great. So just make all the smores you want and enjoy. I love the idea of of RVer's High Tea!!

Shirl, I love that you were creative and found a comfort food to have while all is falling down around you. My hugs to you during this time - and I think I just might have to make a microwave s'more of my own design tonight - I have no marshmallows, but have cinnamon graham crackers and dark chocolate hershey kisses - I think I can manage something with just those two ingredients. You got me thinking here.

Best wishes to all the family!

That which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Smores help make you strong. :D I guess just marshmallows and chocolate isn't smore any more. Let me know how you make microwave smores. Thanks for the hugs, it has been that kind of day.

Man Shirl...enough is enough already! Hugs to you and have all the s'mores ya want. I've never made them in the micro, so not sure how long to cook them. But my guess would be to layer graham cracker, chocolate, marshmallow and cook for maybe 30 seconds. Just enough to melt the marshmallow and chocolate a bit.

I sure hope everything is okay with everyone soon. RVer's High Tea works for me!

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ HUGS to you and yours }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} It will get better sweetie.

And down the road you can still make smores over a campfire.

Besides ice cream, my favorite comfort food of all time. Guess it's from three kids, all of whom were in Scouts or Camp Fire Girls. We did a lot of camping out and always had to make s'mores. Even made them over a barbecue grill in the backyard once. All you have to do is find a way to melt the marshmallow and chocolate enough to get gooey all over the graham crackers.

It sounds like your life has no where to go but UP! and the s'mores and high tea will help a lot.

I wonder if you could use Peeps instead of marshmellows ??? That sounds really good !!! Of course if you don't have marshmellows chances are you won't have Peeps but you just never know what's in the back of the cupboard ;)

Gosh, you got slammed, didn't you. Please know my prayers are added to all the others. We care.
I put a marshmallow on a graham cracker square and microwave it only for a few seconds. They puff up and spill over quickly so watch closely. As soon as I open the door I add the chocolate and another graham cracker top. The first bite will be messy but that's all part of the s'more experience. Enjoy!

To microwave a smore. Place only one cracker, marshmellow and chocolate in microwave. I cooked for maybe 10 to 15 secs, watching through the window. when chocolate began to melt, marshmellow began to swell, I took it out, smushed the other cracker on top and ate. The bottom cracker will soften a bit int he microwave so best not to put them both in, then you still have a crunchy cracker. When you need comfort food you improvise.

Wow Shirl,... with all that coming down on you I would think you could eat anything cooked in any way and it would be just fine! "High Tea" with a smores is comforting,... emotional first aid in a cup!
