Oil Changes

Those of you with the smaller class Cs, where do you get your oil changed? Do jiffy Lubes and those places take care of RVs or do you take your rig to an RV place? I've driven my RV far enough and long enough now that I need to take care of her before heading out again, and haven't seen this question addressed anywhere.

Most of the jiffy lube places around here can't handle my 30' class C. I take mine to A&A Tire cause they have an RV section. Just call around and ask if they don't they might recommend someone who does.

I've discovered most of the rv places ask for more money for my oil change. I usually call into the Ford dealers - some can handle rv's, some can't. But they charge me the same price as for the trucks - have paid under $30 - and they check out everything else for me also.

When I was in SC a couple years ago, I stopped into a local car service place, and they could take me in - and, again, I paid the price for a regular Ford Pick-up truck - and again, I trusted them when they checked all the fluids, etc.

Visiting a friend in VA, he recommended his rv service place. They charged me $90 - and did nothing but change the oil. I was furious. In PA, I checked the price at the RV place people recommended, and they wanted around that same $90 - said that's the lowest rate for an rv oil change. I told them they were crazy, called the local Ford dealer and got it changed for $34.99.

I can go to some of the Jiffy Lubes, etc - some are wide enough, etc, but always ask first.

Luckily my DH has been changing the oil in my Class B. I buy the filter at the Dodge dealership and the oil at an auto parts store (it takes Turbo Diesel Oil).

When we had our Class A we took it to a small local place that did auto repairs, like mufflers, etc. and they changed our oil in their parking lot. It wasn't very expensive either and we were in and out of there in no time. I believe our local Goodyear store would change the oil in our Class B. I recently had a headlight and a side light go out and DH told me to take it up to Goodyear. They had both lights replaced in no time and were reasonably priced - - I had no idea that Goodyear would do work like that.

I'd suggest calling several places to get a good price and ask local people for recommendations if possible.

Margie, my very first oil change on my rv when I bought her was at the local Goodyear - some of them have big enough doors - some don't. But the one that didn't in Alabama was willing to do my tires for me - would have had to do them outside. And, yep, their prices were right, too.
