SOGGY SATURDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SOGGY SATURDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Oct 16, 2010 7:21 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL.

It's a bit above freezing this morning, and looks as if it rained a lot last night as most of our snow is gone. It was pretty while it lasted. No skiing for me today, however.

Mandy and I are leaving here at about noonish, or a bit after, to meet the wedding entourage at a fancy-schmancy place for receptions in a little town in the boonies up near some Indian reservation. I called to see about the attire yesterday, and it's a dressy affair. I was under the false impression that it was to be an outdoor reception, under huge tents, on the farm property of the bride's family. WRONG! Good thing I called, or I would have shown up in the clean jeans I had picked out to wear. I can't imagine why on earth anyone in their right minds would want such an expense for what is supposed to be a fun party. The groom's family has had some wonderful receptions, catered by everyone in the family----all home cooking wonderful food----home brew, family decorations, etc. etc. The bride's family apparently wants this ostentatious extravaganza catered by who-knows-who. To each his/her own, I guess. I have absolutely nothing fancy to wear as I gave all my fancy stuff away or dumped it in the past couple of months of sorting through 'stuff.' I'll just wear pants that aren't jeans with a regular blouse---my school clothes. I have absolutely no fancy shoes whatsoever, but I think I have a pair of black crocs somewhere, and they will have to be my shoes. It's either those crocs, or my yellow mud boots, or the black, knee-high mucker boots, sneakers, slippers, or bare feet! With any luck, they will turn me away at the door and I can come back home!

After this wedding obligation, I am free to leave for the south if I want to go alone and not wait for Sue to go with me. So, obviously, as she cannot leave until the end of the month, I will wait for her. If I get snowed in, so be it. Nobody will die if that happens, so I might as well just enjoy whatever comes. I think I have enough firewood for another winter here at home if need be. Being retired in the snow wouldn't be half as bad as working full time in the snow belt, getting up in the pitch dark, getting home just before darkness sets in again, and so on. I might even like it.

Time for some new coffee. I got my flu shot yesterday, picked up my prescriptions to take to FL, so things are still progressing here. I still need to pick up Molly's meds after next Wednesday which is SS pay day. My arm is nowhere near as sore as it was last night from the shot, so that's over. Flu shots have never been a big deal for me, and I have not had a bad cold since I began to get those every year.....for whatever it's worth. They seem to act like virus blockers for me, for which I am extremely grateful.

My friend with lung cancer is going through her own private little hell right now as she has been told by the medical team what to expect with the concurrent chemotherapy and radiation. She is panicking, is terrified, doesn't want to be alone, (I can't blame her) and the reality of her condition has finally occurred to her. One friend from another group I belong to is with her now, was going to return home on Monday, but has extended her stay until Thursday. We all are going to contribute a few bucks for plane tickets to take turns staying with her, although I can't be one of them, as I don't fly. Most live out on the west coast which makes it easier for them to go back and forth to be with her. This added stress has made me more than touchy lately as I worry about her, so please forgive me if I seem impatient with anything smacking like criticism regarding my plans for my trip south----or anything else, for that matter. I am feeling bristly and snappy, to say the least.

Stop by and tell us about your part of the country. Coffee is hot and there are some high fiber English muffins to toast for those liking breakfast food. Personally, I will wait for the wedding fare this afternoon. I can't remember what I ordered to eat, but I know I was chastised for saying "I will eat whatever you want me to eat." I guess I had to pick a meal choice, whatever it was. Protocol! Sigh! Happy Saturday to all!

Beautiful Fall day at Potters Creek, Canyon Lake, TX. Got down to about 56 last night. My coffee is French Vanilla grind. Sun is absolutely gorgeous this morning. Just a slight whiff of a breeze that has the 'blue jay' fan out front rolling very slowly around. Fed the birds some sunflower chips, put water in the drinking pan and they are ready for the day. The Black-Crested Titmice are announcing to the world that the food is ready and the chickadees are busying about something, either the squirrel, fox, or cat. The Scrub Jay came by and told me how awful the food selection is. Soos, some of the birds are finicky eaters and others eat you out of house and home. It is now rutting season for the deer here and they are beginning to stand off duck their horns and run at each other.

Will have my brother and sister-in-law up for the night. He has promised to bring his big star stuff and she is bringing her water clothes. So we should have a grand time this weekend. Looks to be a great and very busy weekend as only a few spots are empty this morning.

Plans for next week include having "Herbie" fixed ! That's the name I gave my HHR. He will be toaded-ready on Tuesday. Then the rest of the week is getting ready for winter travel in the rig.

Time for coffee refill. Be safe on the road. Have fun whatever you do.

Furnace is running again, but I don't hear my new heat pump, only the furnace in the garage. Called the heating guy and will see what's up. I do have heat, tho.

AT 10 I'm getting a massage. Ahhhhh! I've needed/wanted one for over a month. Can't wait. I'm even blowing off my GDs soccer games to get it.

Not much else to report. Oh, my eye is feeling better this morning. The drops must be helping the irritation part.

Have a gooder!

My step sister is here from NYC and we will be traveling over to the barn to go through her mother's things that were put aside for family members. Libby has my Mac to check prices of some of the furniture and this netbook's key board that I am using is much too sensitive for my hunt and peck method of typing, sigh. It seems to find extra keys everywhere. Perfect fall weather here in Ohio. Colors beautiful and air is mildly crisp with plenty of sunshine. Hope everyone accomplishes what ever they set out for today. See you around the campfire later.....

Mid afternoon here in Normal and a great 70 degrees... Bright Hope is safely tucked away in the driveway waiting patiently to be packed for her run south for the winter... I had to go to the bank this AM so went to Target and got the mattress topper, mattress warmer, mattress pad and a wonderful Chocolate Brown fleece blanket the blanket I got in a King the others in queen... if it does not fit take it back... like excess for blanket... picked up a few other odds and ends for her and I broke the bank for sure... it is such a great feeling having a MH that looks good inside...

I did two loads of laundry and folded them there they sit on the couch... poo I am so tired now... but I must get somethings done as Beth will be coming next week... I am very anxious to meet her... funny how we talk to each one almost every day in this forum and we become friends without even seeing each other...

My trip will be delayed a few days waiting for the paper work so I can get the license plate for the MH, my car and my drivers license...

I hope you do enjoy the reception Soos... weddings are grand... if you are grouchy because you are worrying about Kathy that is understandable... I know when my sister Wilma died on April 27 you all stood behind me with kind words so I know each will be behind you equally... I hope things go well Tina with your step sister... those times are always trying... Oh Lenora we had a reversible heat pump when we lived in FL it was great and lowered our heating and cooling bills a lot... a massage sounds more than wonderful...

I shall go and unload the car into the MH... whew that will be a chore...

May you all have safe travels and many happy days...
