GOOD MORNING ALL!
Halloween used to be one of my favorite holidays when my kids were young. Even when they got older, and the trick or treating had grown old along with them, we all enjoyed dressing up in ugly, scary costumes and going out to parties. I have saved boxes of costume-making stuff upstairs, as we always made our own outfits. One of my prize costumes, which I have been asked to do for people through the years, is my werewolf creation. It consists of Dr. Scholl's sheep wool, Karo syrup, black face paint, plastic fangs, a bit of fake blood, rubber paws with hair and claws, and more!
My friend, Sue, called me last night and confirmed her being able to come with me to FL! Now I need to get online and order her a ticket from Orlando to Syracuse around the middle of November. I am very excited to have someone accompanying me on the road this first time on the major highways! YAY! Thanks for letting me know I need to get her official name from her driver's license...will call her back this weekend.
Yesterday when I went to the post office to mail some checks, I saw that our RV traveling dentist was across the street at the town hall. On a lark, I decided to go over there and ask what it would take for him to clean my teeth. They had a cancellation, so in I went, filled out a few medical question papers, gave them my dental insurance card, and ZAP! He cleaned my teeth, asking me if I was sure I hadn't had them cleaned in over a year (I was ashamed to admit it was at least 6 years ago when I had my last cleaning!) because he said, other than some placque under my gum line, my teeth looked great! It took him about a half hour, I left no copay, and they will bill my insurance company! No money needed upfront! What a difference from the other day at that other dentist! I told him he was now my favorite dentist, and that I would see him when they next rolled around to this neighborhood next year!
My daughter and Joe came last night and will help me get some chores off my long lists today and tomorrow. So far, it is cold out there, but sunny, and that's what counts. The entire weekend is supposed to be very nice, and I am hoping it will be Colliemom's Indian Summer that is heading East!
On the list for today is to cover the paddleboat, close up the leanto, put the big canoe into the cabin at the pond and put the cabin's chairs inside, clear out the shelter up here and back in the old trailer for the winter, mow the lawn one more time, go to the dump, and, if any time left, begin mowing the fields with the brushhog which is now here and fixed. In between, Mandy and I will sort though more jewelry and valuables. That's just a fraction of one of the lists!
Yesterday's morning coffee discussion of a movie, which I haven't seen as I greatly dislike movies (trying not to use the word 'hate' so often any more, although superlatives are me!). was very interesting to read. The thoughts about the Donne poem and us all being a part of the whole has always moved me, and a thought to which I subscribe. I take it a step further with the poem 'Desiderata'---to include the universe and us being a part of a whole something so big I can't fathom it.
My friend, Sue, and I have had some heated discussions about 'auras' and 'attitudes' being predictors of what life will be like for you. Although I do not aspire to any thought that any who gets raped was putting out 'luring auras' and gets what she/he is asking for, I guess I do leave room for doubt in that I tend to be very 'bristly and cold' to leave no doubt about my wishes! That is not to say that a woman who dresses like a whore and exhibits provacative behavior in front of males searching for sex might not be asking for forceful sex. I cannot say with total conviction that some people do not send out vibes to be 'taken' either consciously, or subconsciously. "What did she expect?" has crossed my mind more than once in rape charges.
Coffee is hot and sure does taste extra good this morning as it's chilly out here. Stop by and tell us about your day!
