SATURDAY BRINGS CHANGES IN THE WEATHER

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SATURDAY BRINGS CHANGES IN THE WEATHER

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Sep 25, 2010 7:37 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

It's about 25 degrees cooler than it was last night when I went to bed. I guess fall is back!

The alarm system guy seems really knowledgeable, and went through my house with me planning a system that will work to detect breakins, temperature drops in the event the power goes out, and a water sensor on the floor of the cellar near my hot water tank, in case of leaks. He has planned to cover my three entrance doors, and have three motion sensors set to go off if someone comes in through a window and tries to move around. His system will work on battery backup during a power outage for at least 24 hours, will call up to 5 people to notify in case of power outages, will call the police and/or fire department in the event of a break-in, and more. I was very pleased with his plan. It will cost me 1200 dollars up front to buy and have the system installed, and then I will own it----guaranteed for a year----and can buy monitoring from him quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly. If I pay for a year, I get one month of monitoring for free, and I will probably go for this option for at least this first year. It's 19.99 per month for monitoring. A siren goes off which he says usually scares any would-be break-iners even before the cops get here. His monitoring service is through a company called Emergency 24 from Chicago, and he says they have been wonderful for the years he has used them. So I am going with his plan which he will install the week after this coming one.

ADT would install the stuff for a good deal less money, but then you are obligated to pay upwards of 40.00 permonth to them for 3 to 5 years.....by contract.

As soon as I got into my 'work/staining/firewood carrying' clothes yesterday, after releasing our mouse, I got called for an emergencyfill-in substitute teaching job at the elementary school in Bloomingdale. I guess the sub for the third grade got a call and had to leave immediately, so I quickly changed into teaching clothes for the afternoon. I had forgotten just how much fun it is to teach kids with some hope for actually being able to learn things! They didn't tell me, but I guess the class I had is a real problem one for the school----many kids in there with so-called 'uncontrolable' behavior problems, and several with severe emotional problems. To me, although I immediately became aware of all the 'problems' it was a piece of cake. I think we all had a good time and got in some important math lessons and behavior lessons. There are two kids in there who really need to learn to like themselves in order to be able to function----their hatred for themselves broke my heart. Funny how the one deals with the self-hatred with silliness, and the other has horrid temper tantrums. I have taught in that school years ago, and I love it as it is small, friendly, bright, faculty is like a family, and the kids can feel safe there. My kids were lucky enough to be able to attend the first 5 years there, and I've always been so thankful for that.

After school, Molly and I went for a walk in the summer-like 80 degree weather! Then went over to Issy's for a visit later. She is having a going-away party for Dick today, which I will attend, after I go grocery shopping. I guess she's planning to stay up here for the winter this year, rather than returning to FL with Dick. But time will tell.

So off I go now to read my email and then shop and then party for a bit this afternoon. I am making baked artichoke dip to serve with veggies and crackers.

As of last night, Mema was still in the hospital, trying to get her heart under control.

Those who were in Branson for that GTG will be off on the road now, and on to new fun times. Be careful out there in RV land, and stay in touch with us all as you move along! Liz, happy travels to pick up your new vehicle!

Happy Saturday!

The puppers are waiting not so patiently for their walks this morning. The sun is bright and the air feel like fall at last. Where is my sweat shirt? Herschel e-mailed the Blue Marlin and told me where to drive next. But is is a short drive so a long morning walk is in order. He mentioned something about no leash at the Blue Marlin and is reallt excited about that. Glad to hear that Sarah got back home safely but really wish she was driving off somewhere to pick up her rig :o Someday her rig will come on the radar....and it will speak to her. BJ needs to find a sweet RT or PW to take her off on adventures, too!

Now Sarah, we heard out some diamond hunting and then something about the casinos... Where are the picture? No pressure, but you can't have spent more than ten minutes with Carolyn and not have some "story".....  Do any of the rest of you find yourself thinking of Liz's talents everytime you pic up a camera and try to post the pictures to the forum.to share your travels.   Liz I will never be able to capture the spirit of a place as well as you but I will still keep trying to give the "short story" version at least. WWLD comes to mind. That beautiful flock of wild turkeys along side the road. You would have had the patience to stop and share them with us, sigh. So thank you Liz, you help me see the natural world even better. I will try to share is better, too. Herschel is still thinking about his Blog....

Soos, remind who ever is on your phone list for that alarm company that the motion sensors pic up interesting motion "Break ins" ...birds, bats and strange things that fall off walls, etc. :)

Have a wonderful day, enjoy the world around you and use all your senses and open your heart to see the value of the world.....WWLD......

PS...thank you again BJ for sharing your corner of the world with me yesterday.....this forum is truly a wonder and a blessing of talented and diverse women......

Good Morning

I returned home to on going heat here too. Everything is parched as no rain and the entire state of AL is under a no burn order. Good news is that a fair chance of rain over weekend and a drop of nearly 20 degrees in temps by Monday. So looking forward to that cooler weather.

Yes, Tina you are correct about many stories from my adventures with SunshinecrusierTN (Carolyn) following the AR gtg. Not sure I want to tell all of those, however. It was great anyway and I learned so much from her. I'm working on getting the photos ready and will try to get that post started this afternoon. I'm so jealous that you are heading to the Blue Marlin. Carolyn told me about her visit and know you will enjoy your stay there.

Have a safe day.

Stopped for lunch at the MS Welcome center. The traffic is light (for an Interstate) and I'm making good time. Put VickieP on the radar for tonight.

I've been wondering about the diamond-hunting, casino-hopping crew too. And Belle? What have you done with her, huh?

It did feel like fall here this morning so glad the temps cooled off for Tina and I to see the sights. I hated to see her go but guess we have to share. I'm so happy she posted pictures as I only took a couple. And as you all know I'm not good with photobucket, I know I should practice more huh!
Safe journeys to all on the road.
