Let's get together!

Vickie you are on the road today. Hope that you had the good old south winds at your back, and sun all day long. Also hope you cleared up the road ahead of us. We will hit I-30 just outside of TxRKaNa.

The other Vicky, Yakn1, and I will be meeting up on I-35 in the morning and caravaning. We shall try to make it to Tyler State Park which is about 300 miles. That should give us one or two stops on the road. I do like to park at night with my gas tank full. Expect we will honk at Karen and Carole in Corsicana as we go by. But then if it is a late start and a slow go we may just stop there with them. They have a few more miles than we do to drive from K'ville. Sun came out about 4:00 p.m.when I went out to dump and get Ed the Edge hooked up. Muddy, muddy, muddy out there. Hope it drys up tonight so I don't end up with yuck in the storage areas. Just a few things to finish up in the morning and then YAHOO - On the Road Again! Meeting up with the Sistahs and their furbabies! Nah, I am not either excited!

Everyone be careful on the road. Take your time and watch out for the other guys. Looking forward to seeing yall.

Just wondering if you (whomever) can start a "Part III" thread on this GTG. I am so far behind on reading this one and I want to start fresh with whatever is going on during the GTG and not miss anything!
Thanks!

I'm here in Southaven, Mississippi, just south of Memphis....slow wifi but great jacuzzi! Should be pulling into the park between 1 and 2 tomorrow. Had a good but slow drive from Honeycomb....seems like I went thru every little podunk town in Northern Alabama and Ms, but had plenty to look at. The road was good, 4 lane, but you have to watch the RR crossings....boy were they rough! No rest areas, but plenty of truck stops and shopping centers to pull into for a quick potty break and snack. Managed to pass the Kohls I saw by keeping eyes forward. LOL! Sure is hot and humid here, hope it's better in Arkansas. I'm not excited either, Birdie!

I'm leaving tomorrow. :) Finished up with the financial stuff but it took a lot longer than I hoped ...or I worked a lot slower than I thought. Then that mail came and two more issues needed to be answered, sigh. Made the trip to the doc with my Step Mother. The doc wants her to have an Upper GI. The facility will arrange transportation to the hospital but she may need to wait until I get back if they can't find someone to wait with her. I put a call in to her friend from church. I really am not worried about her waiting. She had the procedure done about 6 months ago and they found nothing...I think the doc is just being especially cautious but unfortunately the symptoms that Ellen talks about....none of them are new...she just doesn't remember how long her appetite has been gone...or understand that it may never really come back at her age. It is sad but she is slowly realizing that not everything can be fixed.

So....the kayak is packed, the food is in, clothes need to go in tomorrow along with the dog food, and all the misc. stuff Sleep tonight....Oh, and I need to look in the COE book and see what choices there are along the way!
Benedryl tonight for allergies and I will sleep well! Besides, I need some of Mitch's wine.

I had a lot of reading to get caught up on, whew. I'll be heading out Sat or Sun depending on the weather. If Sun, I'll stay somewhere w of Memphis and then head on in Mon. Those of you heading in early, give a road report please, especially concentrating on the grade(steepness) and curves. I'm just checking.

Glad the burn was lifted.

We're stopped for the night, filled our bellies and relaxing. We got a late start from home (2pm) so we didn't make it as far as we wanted, but we're just a few miles south of Marshall TX and will make it to Petit Jean tomorrow. We had good weather all the way, just a few sprinkles or in other words, enough to get road film on the vehicles. Had one of the sway bars come undone from the hitch, drug it a ways hooked by the chain, but when we pulled into this campground a couple of guys came out and told us and helped us get into a site and set up. So now, I'm off to read some since I haven't been on all day. Barbie, I'll start a Part III when we get to the GTG. Stay safe everybody, have a good trip and we'll see yall when ya get there!

G & I are leaving a day early.

We going to stay at the Something-Lake Campground in Heth, AR (West Memphis), part of the Super 8 or something...maybe we'll see you there!

We stayed at an AR State Park west of West Memphis called Village Creek. It's north of interstate. Very nice there.

I just looked up the place we'll stay - Shell Lake Campground. According to the review site, it's a dump, but whatever...I can tolerate that for a few hours of rest and for allowing me to get to Petit Jean earlier to start my campaign of being mean to You-Know-Who...

I have decided that instead of going to Branson I'm going to hunt for diamonds at the state park 127 mi south of Petit Jean after our gtg. Crater of Diamonds State Park, 209 State Park Road Murfreesboro, AR 71958
Phone: (870) 285-3113 That sounds like more fun for me right now. I've had my share of the glitz & glamour of lights & entertainment to last a while. If anyone wants to join, feel free.

My plans are still a bit jelloish, but am thinking of leaving early too. Just want to get moving, I guess. Thinking of leaving on Saturday and driving to Forrest City, AR. as I don't want to stay much closer to Memphis.
Diamond hunt sounds interesting and tempting at this point.

Oooo! I would love to go diamond hunting! Too bad I'm not going to the GTG :( Someday when I get my own RV, I want to travel around the country digging for gems, minerals and gold. May just go gold hunting in California for now tho!

Did any one else note that the temperature at Morrilton Ar was 94 and felt like 104! eeekk
Hope goes down next week especially the humidity. I've had all of that kind of weather I can handle this year, which has been most of the summer.
