Winterizing

Getting to be about that time of year for us in the colder climates to think about wintering the RV pretty soon. Was wondering how many of you do it yourself as opposed to taking it to the dealer. That's not a cheap thing in these parts. My seasoned RV co workers tell me it's not that hard and have been telling me how to go about it. Thinking of doing it myself. Darn RV anit freeze keeps going up in price too. Debated about having the dealer do it this fall for the first iime since the rig is under warrenty yet, but then there's the gas cost for the drive to the dealers from here (60 miels one way).

not hard to do yourself. I would try to find clear, specific instructions online or in an rv manual and have the printed directions with you so you can check off each step as you do it. Not sure where you are but Menard's stores here have the pink stuff on sale for under $3/gallon. If you have a bypass for your water heater, it only takes 2-3 gallons. Well, that's what I use for the MH.

Yep, easy to do yourself....and by all means, remember to switch the by-pass thingy for the hot water tank....I don't know all the reasons, but they tell me that it's NOT GOOD for the "Pink Stuff" to be in the hot water tank.... Just drain it..then do the switch....

Will do as I did last year. For $55 I let my RV guy do it. I figure if anything goes wrong they are responsible for it and also they do a check on all my seams and roof.

The few times I had to do it, I did it myself. So easy - and the only cost to me was a couple gallons of the pink stuff. Actually, 1 gallon probably would have been enough. It's really a piece of cake.
