Welcome, Deonne!! We saw one of those Scamp 5th wheels on the road the other day....but, alas, too small for us.... as we are full-timing, too....6 years, now, as of this last August.....Photobucket is the commonly used place for sending photos to post here...but others use a few other programs....I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.....Have been a "sistah" here since the beginning and wouldn't be any other place for info, support, laughs, and friendship....jump in anytime.....

Bethers - I'll try the tech forum, thanks for the suggestion. And your method - frugality, but doing what you want to do, etc. - makes total sense. Have you read Your Money or Your Life? That plan isn't entirely appropriate for me, but I share the philosophy. I'm fascinated by the idea of getting my expenses as low as possible - you're right, no meals out is key - and see how long I can do this. Very, very exciting. And I believe that if I immerse myself in something I'm passionate about - solo female road travel - then I can contribute as a writer in a way that will eventually earn me an income. Positivity and persistence.

Mtngal - Yes! I'm starting to plan my October California adventure, and would love to meet up.

RVGrammy1953 - Thanks for the welcome! The 13-footer is definitely tiny, exactly why I bought it. I have a house to come back to, so I don't need as much space on the road. That, and there's just one of me (ha). And thanks for the rec on Photobucket, that may do the trick.

P.S. I (obviously) got an avatar loaded, though I look so pink! Funny. Using Photobucket instead of Mediafire did the trick. Thanks, all!

Welcome to the forum, Deonne! As you heard, Barbie and I are caravaning to CA in Oct. She is moving to Palm Springs from MN. My best girlfriend is flying to NE from CA to meet up with us and ride out to CA with us. So far, that makes 3 of us! We are all excited!!! I am a full time RVer, work camping at an Army Corps of Engineers park in IA. I have a volunteer camp host job lined up at Joshua Tree National Park for the winter. I used to live in the area so have friends there I want to see. I'm not retirement age so still have to work for a living. I haven't found my paying job yet, but the volunteer job will cover my full hookup site and propane. I'm hoping my friends can help me find something. I will also be praying a lot ;) We will be there by mid Oct. so would love to have a GTG with you! We will keep posting to let everyone know where we are in case anyone wants to GTG. Have a ball on your journeys ;) Looking forward to hearing how you like your little Scamp!

BikerChic777 - Thanks for the welcome! That's great that you'll be at Joshua Tree this winter, such a beautiful place, and it's great that at least your "housing" is covered. I'd love to meet up in CA, though I just found out I have NY friends coming for a visit in October, so I'll need to be back to Taos by 10/18. But will try to make a gtg. Like I said, I pick up my Scamp next week, so pictures are coming soon!

A hearty welcome from me too. Going to be very interested in reading about your travels with our new Scamp. I have friends who have one and they love it. Traveling with my Rockwood is something I am considering doing in about another year too. Right now i am just camping when I can ago get used to towing it around different places etc. Just made the longest trip of 423 miles with it last week. No problems at all. Getting more used to it as time goes on. Have fun, enjoy.....

Whew! I'm back with Sadie the Scamp and launched the new blog (http://www.gonescamping.com). Now it looks like CA is off until December, and that may be a quick Sadie-less trip. I'm starting the grand adventure Tuesday in Roswell, NM. The craziness seems appropriate (ha). I'll post pictures of my rig today, and look forward to keeping up with all of you on the boards!

Glad to have you along! I have no idea what's going to happen out there, and that might be the best part.

Deonne, welcome to the forum. It's nice to see a newcomer who is getting a rig and fired up to head out. No hesitancy here!

I'm a western gal as well -- SLC & St. George -- and really want to visit NM. I have been wanting to do the "Tony Hillerman" tour, visiting all those places on the Big Rez he described in his books. Maybe I'll get pulled over by a Jim Chee lookalike!

Lotsa ladies here with towables (not me), so they should be able to help you make this transition to a mobile life.

Getupngo - Southern Utah is one of my favorite places in the country. Such beauty, and I can't wait to get back there with Sadie. You must come to New Mexico, a different but equally beautiful landscape. Let me know if you plan to come through!

Hi Deonne, sorry to be so long welcoming you...been on the road since mid August and am now in Tucumcari headed home to SoCal. Next stop is Albuquerque, my home town, to visit with family. Love love love Taos and the surrounding area, IMHO one of the most beautiful areas in NM, altho on a par with the Santa Fe area. Hope to meet up with you when you rv in SoCal.

Sharon - thanks for the welcome, delayed or not! Where in SoCal is home? (I grew up in San Diego.) I agree about northern NM - it is spectacular. Every day I look at that big blue sky and the mountains and mesas and Rio Grande Gorge, and marvel that I live here. Yes, a SoCal meetup would be fun. Sooner than later, I hope.
