THURSDAY WITH EYES ON EARL

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THURSDAY WITH EYES ON EARL

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!

It's 70 degrees out there on the true second day of my retirement! I met quite a few teachers at Kinney's Drugs yesterday, while I was killing time waiting for my doctor appointment, and they all seeemed to be telling me that I retired in the knick of time. I guess all the moving around of personnel has many of them very bitter and saying it's time to get out of education. I must say I felt very good, as my second retirement check had been deposited in my bank account the day before.....it was a bit more than the first check, and is still not the final amount I will be getting each month, and I guess I will be able to live with it ok.

Speaking of money, and RV repairs, and such, I called the RV dealers yesterday about my refrigerator, and they gave me the same thing to try that AN
RVing friend suggested I try----to move that little temperature-control device around that is clipped to my fins. t took me a while to figure out how to unclip it and reposition it, but it's not hard to do. I have now moved it in both directions, to see which would allow the motor to cycle on and off properly, but, so far, it still seems to be constantly running and freezing my stuff. Although, when I ran it on gas last night after moving it radically, it registered normal temp this morning. So now I am trying it on electricity again, as, when I am hooked up, I will want to run it this way. If this doesn't hold the temperatuer wher I want it today, I will have to make an appointment with the dealership to have it fixed. That means an 80 mile round-trip haul, and that I won't have my little house by the main house for a while! As the weather is threatening to change, I won't be comfy in the leanto any more much longer either. Oh well---I need to have this up and running when I take to the roads.

The doc told me to stay on the same meds I have been using, rather than change to the higher dose just yet. He says he believes my anxiety about my blood pressure is half the reason it is high, and I have to agree with him whole heartedly. So I'll continue to monitor it daily and leave the results at the front desk for him to look at, and then we'll decide when/if it's time to up to the next dose.

Today I will paint some more on the house, and bag up the stuff that will go to the dump on Saturday. I sorted through the bedding stuff yesterday before I did some Painting, and now I need to take a bunch of sheets and pillowcases to the laundromat in town so I can wash them all before I put them into new storage bins. It will be easier to do them all at once rather than have to do a lot of smaller loads here at home. At least, that's my theory! I can still bring them all home to line-dry, which makes them smell so good!

Earl is steadily whirling its way toward the Outter Banks this morning, and it's back up to a category 4 hurricane again. Maybe Liz and Carol will have a storm to contend with, although I think they are inland enough to get only heavy winds and a lot of rain. If anyone is closer to the coast, I hope you are prepared to lose power for a while, at the very least. My poor little Plum Island off Newburyport, MA might get the full fury of this storm, too. Parker River Wildlife Bird Sanctuary is on that island, with miles of beautiful beach.

So, let's all keep an eye to the skies today, and stop in to check with us about where you are and what is going on in your life. Happy first Thursday in September, 2010!

Good-morning !!! Thanks for thinking of us here in N.C., Soos. We have a predicted 30% chance of rain today, but thats scattered and our week end looks great on weather charts.
We're located over 500 miles from the coast line, so unless it really turns into the land we shouldn't get much of anything here, but then we never know what mother nature might do.

We're waiting for a call about Liz's R.V. Should have a call sometime this morning, she was told yesterday. I don't know about mine yet. Liz, said yesterday she felt homeless, poor thing. I have certainly enjoyed having her though. She doesn't mind that my hostess skills are lacking, due to unuse   Hopefully they will be more up to par before she leaves.

Other then waiting for our R.V's, not much else to report from here. We won't go into scores on the HAND AND FOOT games and especially FARKLE

Have a great day everyone, those traveling stay safe, those at home, find somethng you enjoy and do it for yourself today.
Take care
CArol :)

Had my shower and waiting for 9:00 to call Jackson to see if I can get a spot there for Sat and Sun. Going down to Natchitoches today for some sightseeing, which has been poorly lacking on this trip so far! BF asked me last nite, why in the world are you going down there and why are you going to Jackson?? Idiot doesn't have a clue. You guys have no idea how much I miss my DH, he wanted to go everywhere and see everything. Sometimes twice. What a guy! OK, pulling up my big girl panties and attending to business.

Soos, I believe you're right about your BP. I elected to have Kaiser for our medical when the state hired me and when my DH went in for his physical for his class A license they told him he had high blood pressure. Made him come back the next day and refused to give him the paperwork. Well, I'll tell you, by the time they got thru with him, his BP WAS sky high. He thought he was gonna lose his truck license. I calmed him down, sent him to his previous Dr., and he was fine. Just think happy thoughts. I've heard bio-feedback works wonders.

Hope all of the broken rv's are soon back on the road, and those that are on the road drive safe!

I am on my way back from New Jersey. Went down the Skyline Drive and part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have to get unhooked and on the road again. I'm on central time and these people are on eastern I think.

Beth, I sent you a PM.

Good Morning all

We have a cloudless sky the morning and comfortable temp at least for now. Headed for upper 90s this afternoon but the weekend should be a bit cooler and near perfect weather for the near end of summer.

Soos - all you work around your place makes me tired just reading about it. But getting to do it on your own schedule is so great. Retirement has so many wonderful rewards. Have you decided yet when you will head south for the winter?

Sharon - Enjoy some sightseeing and take it easy. You really pushed it getting across the country and fighting all that wind.

Fingers crossed that Liz and Carol get their RVs back today in good working order. Am still voting for you to show up in ARK, Liz.

My niece had surgery for ruptured disk early Monday morning. She was released from hospital about 18 hours after surgery and is staying with me for a while. She is doing well. Even Nicky has been on his best behavior around her. Amazing how dogs seem to know when something is not right. Normally he is so happy to see her that he is jumping all over for her attention. He did jump on bed with her but did so very gently and stayed still waiting for a little loving.

Only mundane chores on tap here for the day.

Safe travels to all on the road. Don't forget to post pictures for those of us stuck at home.

Good Morning Ladies... busy busy everyone is... glad your bp was ok soos... I do not know how to function without hearing what is happening on your side of the mountain... carol and liz glad you are inland... just between you and me carol liz is always ready to pitch in... I so much appreciated her while I was in FL... sharon guess that is why we love them they keep us guessing all of the time...

I used my arm too much yesterday and now am paying for it... bummer.... Margie is coming over today and she will run the vacuum as it has not been done since we moved everything out for the garage sale... she is such a good daughter... it is so true and so funny but she is the one I did not want... I cried when I was pregnant almost every day for weeks (I did have 3 other little ones had all 4 of my children in 2 1/2 years by the time I was 20)... everyone said 'the one you do not want will be your greatest joy in old age'... never truer words were spoken...

we had more rain overnight which we need so badly.. my yard has huge cracks in it... that is partly because of the clay under the top soil...

I need another cup of coffee... please drive safely those on the road and the rest do something fun...
Kathleen
had to edit this and say hello to Sarah... take care of your niece... she is fortunate to have you help her..
