Where's Pooker Moving?

Postby Pooker » Tue Aug 31, 2010 9:21 am

Thanks for asking, Sheila. Actually, I'm moving a bit closer to Sharon! It's a little southeast of my current house in what used to be an almost total retirement small city. Unfortunately, the builders moved in a few years back and the city had to start dealing with schools, kids, etc. But I'm moving into a rather large over 55 mobilehome community where you buy your own space along with the house. My new (old) place is directly across the street from one of the 4 pool complexes and I discovered an old RVing friend lives right next door! HOA fees are only $72/month (did I mention 4 clubhouse & pool complexes?) and fenced RV parking will only be $160 a year!

I needed a new beginning and a place with other seniors that offers a lot of clubs and activities, and without a large weed infested yard seemed just right. Moving day is Sept. 22. Had a yard sale Sat. - swear I'll never have another (swore that the last time, too), going to check out the new place with an inspector Wed., closings on Sept. 13, but my buyer is giving me the extra time to do whatever work is needed on the new and pack up the old.

With all this house hunting, etc., poor Flitter has cobwebs all over her mirrors! I'm having travel withdrawal! So keep posting about those trips, girls - I can pretend!

Congrats on your new "lifestyle". I completely understand the no yard thing. That's why I'm in my RV and not my house.

Wow, sounds like a great place, Evie! I always wonder what I would do if I did decide to sell my house. Something like you have sounds ideal for when not traveling.

Sounds like a great place for you, with others around to interact with and less upkeep. Can't wait to see the pics of your new place! (hint, hint)

I think pics were posted a while back. If I remember correctly it is a very cute place without much outside maintenance. The whole area sounds just perfect for you. Good luck with the closing and move. Of course we need pics after it is yours. Linda

I don't think you're all that much closer, Evie...it's 12 miles to MV and 12 to Hemet, but with the pool just across the street you could very possibly see more of me! It IS a lot closer to my kids place and if I ever get to move up there then we'll only be 10 min apart. On the other hand, ya never know, if I like your area I may change my mind and move in next door to you! :D I'm pretty well tired of my yard, too. Do you have a garage? Would need someplace to keep my toys.

Sounds like a great place to me too, you may have lots of neighbors that you know before long! Congrats on finding the place and hope the move goes well.

Sounds wonderful to me. I'm so done with yardwork!! And I'd love living with more mature people. I love kids, but .....

My sub'd is changing in that so many homes are foreclosed on and people are letting their friends move into the houses as they just walk away, so no one is caring about upkeep. I just walked thru a home a few days ago that has been empty for a year, being foreclosed on. A fellow was there doing a cleanup. The inside was a mess and a trooper use to live there. Not sure if someone broke in and trashed the place or what, but it will need allot of TLC to get it ready for sale. I heard they had an adjustable mortgage and it had gone up to $2400 a month!!

Can't wait to hear more about you new home/area! congrats

Sounds perfect, Evie. A lot like the place I winter in Florida although it still maintains about 250 RV sites and you don't own the property and the yearly maintenance fees are higher. Think you have the better deal even if it is near Sharon  carold

I like the sounds of it Evie!! And I think it's neat that you and Sharon are close by...I think that is the kind of place I would like....
right now we are content with what we have but when asked what we will do when we no longer can or wish to travel even the little that we do...don't even know what state we will land in...guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it
