TERRIFIC TUESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TERRIFIC TUESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Tue Aug 31, 2010 6:38 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I think this might be our first day of school, at least for the teachers with all those first day meetings and stupid presentations----amazing that I don't have to know if it is, or not! I guess this is like my first day of retirement, as the summer was a given, anyway.

It's 63 degrees outside, and again down to the 20s in my refrigerator. I ran it on gas for a while during the night, and it seemed to stay warmer than when on electricity. I may try it on gas once more today before I call the RV dealers and set up an appointment to see what on earth is up with it. It is so frustrating to have a practically brand new refrigerator not working correctly----freezing all my food.

I will do some more under-cover painting and staining today, in my covered porch area and my front door. If it gets as hot as they are predicting today, I may go swimming, even at the pond amidst the leeches! I could also do some work in the cellar, sorting out stuff, as it will be cold down there. Nights have been so nice and cool for sleeping at the pond.....I can never remember having so many perfect days and nights for camping down there. I need to take some more firewood down there for tonight. The only sounds are the coyotes now and then, and a seemingly angry great blue heron, which, if I didn't know what it was in the dark, I would be running for my life! Herons make more hideous, bone-chilling noises than any other animal I have ever heard, except possibly a bull alligator in rutting season!

I hope all is well with everybody, and that you'll stop by for some coffee and let us know how you are doing and what you are doing. Happy Tuesday to all!

Happy travels!

Good morning, Soos, and all. Hope you really enjoy your first real day of freedom, Soos. Oh how I remember all that wasted time in meetings and presentations!...at least since you reminded me. They had kind of faded into distant memories.

Carol & I did errands & Walmart trip yesterday....blew that day. Hope my rv part comes in and can be fixed tomorrow.

Wishing all a good day.

Good morning, all.

Well, some of us poor folk still have to endure mindless presentations, only to have to steel ourselves for the onslaught of personalities the next day. I'm leaving in about 10 minutes for my first day with 30 fifth graders.

For those of you footloose and fancy-free, don't rub it in too much. ;)

I'll be enjoying my last day of summer vacation before jumping back into the workforce with both feet tomorrow. I've already agreed to take call this weekend. lol But first, it's off to get an oil change for the rig this morning.

Have a great day everyone!

Love,

Good-morning !!! Beautiful day outside, not sure what we'll get into today. Yesterday, was errand day and a few groceries. Liz, discovered why I do all errands in one day, its quite a trip into town. We both got hungry before hitting the grocery store, so decided to eat. She drug me into a BURGER KING, and then blamed me for all the calories and fat content She ate. As far as calories go, we all know she can handle them better then I can, I'm still in a condition that my dr. is going to have a fit when I step on the scales :) He's never happy with me anyway, and right now, really wouldn't be and after what She did to me yesterday, Wow. I have not been into a Burger KIng for I can't remember how long and IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOOD !!!!! To be real honest, she didn't twist my arm (much)

We're both still on our computers, so haven't discussed what we'll do. There are so many places to explore around here. Maggie and I, do some alone, but so much more fun with someone and we both love historical places and there is a lot of history here, from the British era through the Civil War, to Jackson's rounding the natives up and shipping them off of their land.

Liz, seems to be checking out r.v.'s, showed me one in Ashville, when we go for hers, guess we'll have to stop there. It does look great, and right now she isn't real happy with hers. I'm not sure yet, whether she is going to the GTG or not, trying not to bug her, but holding my breathe hoping she will. Might be her last excursion for the yr. so it should be a big bang type one, don't you think?

Have a GREAT DAY, everyone, Stay safe but do some happy things for yourself.

Good Morning everyone... sounds like some are having cooler nights... my air runs all night... it is 78 this morning and will be 91 before the day is over...

Yesterday my grandson Tim mowed my weeds as the grass has stopped growing... sure will be fall before we know it... he had some fresh baked cookies before he rode off into the sunset to get a shower and go to class...

I cannot use my arm for another few days... wow we never know how much we use these limbs until we cannot use them... I think the injection has calmed the shoulder down some... when I can do the exercises it will release the trapped bursa... that is with any luck...

On now to the day ahead... coffee is good here also... I hope you get your rv soon Liz as it is such a worry... oh my you working ladies do not know what you are missing... let me tell you it is many many $ less when it comes to paying the bills... so push forward and be glad...

no adventure here so those of you on the road have fun for me...

Good Morning to All - It is nice here this a.m. but supposed to heat up to mid 90s toady. Not quite so humid though. So Drug vacuum around the first floor and mopped the kitchen and one bathroom before I turned red and heated up. Then went out on the screen porch to read and cool down. Mama and the twin fawns came by and a couple of buzz bomber hummingbirds. So didn't get much reading done. I think The Driver overdid it for a few days - he's back laying down already - Doc said not to overdo it as the virus can come back with a force. Better not!
I remember the first fall orientation I got to miss - walked around grinning like a nut. Its already been 8 years. . . .
Take care all and have a great day.

ANd I remember even more that first August after retirement.......I was visiting my Art teacher, daughter, and went into an "educational and art" supply store.....and came out without spending any money. :? That was a sign to me that I had made it. There was no classroom to "dress' up, materials that I needed to make for specific students, there was no staff orientation to prepare for (even as an administrator I would usually buy a lot of my own "door prizes" to give out during orientation...  Yep, retirement was worth the wait! :)

Good morning all...well it looks like our string of wonderful summer days has come to an end. The temps have been dropping in the night. Had to click on the fireplace the last few mornings as the house was down to 62 degrees. It is nice to have it on for an hour or so and take away the chill the living room.

Today is wet, cold and rainy. I am still sitting her in PJ's. I have errands that I NEED to do today, but I am waiting on the insurance adjuster to call. He called yesterday, at 8:45 am...and said he could be out yesterday at 3pm. I told him that would not work, as I was leaving for Seattle in an hour to get DD from the airport. He said he would call me back first thing in the morning today..to arrange a time for today??? Here it is 10:20am and I have not heard from him. If he does not call by 11:30..I am heading into town. I have office max rewards certificate that expires today..worth 50.00.. I am going to use on general school supplies. Then I have paperwork to get done at the district office that has to be done today (dang near forgot about it..although I have been doing it for 6 years now one would think I would remember).

I did get 95% of the remodel done in the girls room. I have to put in baseboards, touch up some paint and then paint the one door and trim, finish the window trim, pick out new fabric for curtains,...okay so maybe it is only about 85% done.

Zeke had their first football game on Saturday they won 30-6. It was a long day, as it was an away game, but against Friday Harbor, which is located on the islands, so we had to drive down to Anacortes and catch the ferry to take us across. We left the house at 6:30am and got home about 9:15 am. We just missed the 4:50 ferry by 2 cars. That kinda sucked for DS, as we were the only ones on the team that did not make the 4%0 ferry for the return home. We went and found a place to have dinner and then took the kids for ice cream.

I want to send out a huge THANK YOU to Liz...while on her journeys she has been sending Kodie postcards...it has been so much fun getting the postcards and following Liz around the United States.

Still morning here, 10:45 actually!

Still feel tired. I had a semi-rough day yesterday. I had my 2 GDs for the day but started out feeling dizzy. My BP was 95/55! I have NEVER in my life had a reading that low. I did watch the girls, tho, and during while with them at our sub'd park there was a confrontation involving a girl, perhaps 9, and 3 littler boys. I had noticed that the 9 yr old was very mouthy and immediately took my GDs to another part of the playground, but my neighbor, Katie, who was playing with my Gds, stayed behind. Well, next thing I know the mom of the little boys was steaming mad because the 9 yr old, and supposedly Katie, were saying mean things to her boys. Now I wasn't there to hear any of it, and the older of the 3 boys said that the 9 yr old was the culprit, but the mom had it in for both girls. I told her that I thought Katie would not be that mean as she had been bullied before and knew better, but still like I said, I wasn't there. I did tell the mom that I'd speak to Katie's mother and let her know what happened. Poor Katie turned white when the mom started in on her and the 9 yr old. Anyway, we left and went to Katie's house to let her mom know what had taken place. Katie was in tears and her mom tried to explain that even though she didn't say anything mean to the little boys, she's guilty by association and it was a good lesson for her to remember to walk away from someone who wants to bully, or stick up for the one being bullied.

Yep, today is orientation at the schools. I know because Katie's mom is a special ed teacher and has meetings today.

Suppose to be pouring rain today, but as I type the sun is shining. I do need to mow the front yard so probably should be doing that asap.

Liz, good luck on your RV search. Hope you find something that fits your needs. Wishing everyone a great day!

It is a quiet day here now, finished the vacuuming and that is always a loud endeavor as the two little dogs try to kill the vacuum. They love the game so though so I don't get on to them and they quiet down after awhile. It is hot and humid days again but at least cooling down at night and mornings.
I finally made a doctors appointment for a check up with my doctor in STL. I do have a local doctor but usually see the PA so I like to check in with her and been putting it off.
My brother finished his three Cyber Knife treatments for a non-malignant brain tumor, the first doctor wanted to do surgery so he saw another specialist who recommended the Cyber Knife. He would drive up to STL, have a 45 minute treatment and drive home. He went three times, after the initial consultations and exam he had no special prep after they got his measurements for the mask that held his head in place and no after effects. Modern medicine is amazing.

Just taking a quick break here between sorting, packing and getting stuff ready for my moving sale next weekend. Lots of work! I sure hope I can sell a lot of stuff. I am going to mark most of it really cheap just to get rid of it. Amazing how much a person can accumulate over the years!!

Played the second half (9 holes) of our golf tournament last night and I did just as bad as I did the first half! So needless to say, I came in dead last. Oh well! Hopefully, I can get a lot of practice down in Palm Springs!

It is hot and humid today. The nights are actually about 10-15 degrees cooler in Palm Springs than they are here now! The daytime temps are a whole different story tho, altho they don't have the high humidity we have.

Hope everyone is cool, safe and happy today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
