SUMMERY SUNDAY

My campsite at my pond from the paddleboat last evening.

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!

Molly and I spent another spectacular night at the pond, watching the sky with all of its activities up there, including another wonderful moonrise over the water. As I was watching all those satellites going over, I was thinking that when I first watched the sky, there were no such things as man-made satellites, and we had never even seen the backside of the moon, let alone had anyone walking on it! It is shocking to realize how far science has come in just my lifetime alone. The view of the rising partially full moon showed more detail through my binoculars than the view through my first telescope showed! As I recognized all those craters and 'seas' and mountains, I recalled making a model of the moon for a science fair in 1953. As we hadn't even seen the backside of it yet, the back of my model is painted black. (I still have it sitting right here!) I stayed out by the fire, watching the sky, for hours, as it was a perfect temperature, no bugs, and such a wonderful night. Many meteors could be seen, in spite of the bright moon, and tons of satellites and a few airplanes. The sky is such a busy place. The stars in the Milky Way still boggle my mind. Jupiter rose just before the moon last night, too, and I could see at least three of its largest moons with my binoculars.

I have no clue what today will bring, yet, but is going to be much warmer than yesterday, for sure. I hope all is well with all of you out there in campland. Coffee is ready, so stop in and let us know what's going on in your piece of the world.

Here's a link to the latest slide show I worked on this morning, and I finally figured out how to label the slides!!

good morning ladies,
your place looks so peaceful Soos, wish I could be there and dabble my toes in the pond.
Our temps a little cooler, and the city had a huge monsoon storm hit in the evening,
made for a 70 car pile up on the freeway. Nobody hurt seriously and only a few taken
to hospitals but was a mess to clean up and get the freeway flowing freely again. Made
for some interesting news on the tv last night. As long as the temps stay down to this
90's range, my electric meter will hold out til payday when I can reload it. Not much
else going on in my part of the world, have been spending my "spare" time purging
old papers and stuff, other than that, laundry is done, and housework is done. Enjoy
your day and be safe. Has anyone heard from Echo and Kelly?
