Leaving Wednesday

Postby sharon » Mon Aug 23, 2010 11:05 am

Morning Ladies! I'm planning on pulling out of here on Wednesday. First leg of the trip will be out the I-10 headed for Ft. Worth area, on to Greenville, Tx, continuing on to Shreveport for a couple of days and then hopefully up to visit with Jean and Beth. After the AR GTG, will be heading back west the I-40 with stops in Amarillo, Albuquerque, Holbrook, AZ and Prescott, AZ. If anyone is near any of these areas give a shout out and maybe we can GTG for a meal or even just coffee! Doesn't have to be IN these areas just near those freeways. Getting 'cited here!! Woo Hoo road trip here we come! :D Just wish I had time to go down to New Orleans and spend a couple of days eating. :( Last time I was there was the week before Katrina hit.

@Vickie....Have you ever been to Shreveport? And do they have beignets? Or really good seafood like NO has?

Hope you do make it here - give me a holler when you get close. There are sites on the water that you'd like. If you are here over Labor Day- there will be nothing on the water. Jean leaves here on 9/8.

Like I said before, I should have left here a couple of weeks ago, but just couldn't get my butt in gear. If I do make it there I would have to leave on the 8th also to make it to AR on the 10th. I could make it in one day but prefer not to. After last years adventure I don't trust the weather. We'll see how it goes. I want to stop in Las Cruces and go to Barnetts Haarley there, they have a fantastic sale area that covers the whole top floor and it's right around the corner from the cg I usually stay at. Like I need more bike clothes. But I need to go to the grocery there to pick up some Hatch chiles for you know who, who is supposed to be bringing me a Jewish Apple Cake. If I don't show up with said chili's in hand I may not get my cake. Or she may do unspeakable things to it before she gives it to me. Either way, I'm not taking any chances. Plus I need to restock my own stash of chiles, I'm almost out. Horrors!! :o

Aw, I'd still give you your Jewish Apple Cake without the chilis!
I saw a Temple Beth Israel in Paducah...I'll stop by next time I trek up there and ask if they have any apples for sale...

Dang Karen, I got all excited there....until I checked the map! :( I'll be taking the 20N towards Ft. Worth wayyyy before that. But thanks for the shout out and guess I'll have to wait til the GTG to get my glass. Maybe I should have posted my route better.

Got Hope all washed, she sure does look purty. Dang pigeons had built a nest on the roof and pooped all over. What a mess, but it's fairly clean now. Don't know what to do to keep them off of there. One of them was dive bombing me while I was up there and I just kept squirting it with the hose. They had built their nest out of those long pine tree "leaves", needles? and shoved them under the solar panel and vent for the fridge. Like to never got them all out. Probably should take the cover off the vent and make sure I got them all so none get blown down in it. After it cools off, over a hundred here. Gotta run to Moreno Valley and pick up some more meds for the Chew Monster, thought I had enough, but the vet said to start giving her an extra one a day for her allergies and after counting them I could possibly come up short. Can't let that happen, poor little thing suffers enough as it is. BF calls her Itchy Mendoza....when he's not calling her a land shark.

Sharon, are you going to the casinos in Shreveport? If so, they may have beignets, other than that, I don't know. As for seafood, anywhere along or south of I-10 has good seafood, anything above I-10 is just okay.

Here's hoping you will have time to make it to AL; if not, will see you in ARK.

Alright, my finger missed the R but I fixed it. Typing was never one of my stronger points.
