Fascinating! Like Mitch I would have liked to read more. As it turns out, Grandma was right on the mark for puncture wounds and cuts. Honey and sugar are natural antibiotics and sugar stops bleeding very fast. Don't know about the spider webs, tho. I remember when my grandma was staying with me for a while ( she was 92) she had a very large weeping open patch of skin on her leg. The visiting nurse kept putting antibiotics on it, then she would bandage it. The next time she came, the bandage tore more skin off and it just wouldn't heal and kept getting bigger. Her poor skin was just so thin. Anyway, I put honey on it, put a nonstick bandage on it and in a week she had a nice scab on it and it finally healed up. Cut my hand really deep at work one time and it wouldn't stop bleeding even with pressure. One of the guys put sugar on it and in a matter of minutes it had stopped. Didn't even leave a bad scar. I was amazed, just wish I had known that when the kids were young. Then just a couple of weeks ago Dr. Oz on tv verified all of this.

yep Sarah, between your childhood at grandma's and your work on early rockets and Government DOD projects you will never run out of material! Thank you so much for rambling on. I can't wait for more installments. Campfire here we come.

I can remember my Mom saying when they were little and one of the 10 kids cut themselves, somebody would run around the house collecting spider webs to put on it and stop the bleeding.

Wow, you have a lifetime of memories and could/should write your memoirs....with many sequels.

Thanks for sharing! I love that place :D Reminds me of the Waltons' place! The walls make it feel like a log cabin inside...which I just love! Your stories are FANTASTIC!!! You definitely should write that stuff down!

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. I just might try writing another installment of memories.

Yes, yes, write it down or get a tape recorder and record it! Fascinating! I sure hope your cousin's kids get older and decide to keep the farm and the history alive!

Great idea on the recorder, Paulette.
I have this tiny digital Olympus and it works beautifully.
It would be perfect to just throw in a pocket for those moments when a memory pops into your head!
