Where's Liz? Cherohala Skyway

Carol and I caravanned over the beautiful Cherohala Skyway yesterday. Unfortunately that's as far as Carol will go with me.....she's having brake problems. We're waiting for service; then I will see her safely home before continuing my journey to NE.

Just one more reason why traveling with someone else would be so much more comforting than being alone out there. I am really apprehensive about being all alone on the roads, and am hoping I will get over that. In the 60s, I traveled alone all over this country more than once. I also traveled with a friend now and then, and it was way more fun.

I have never traveled on that trail, Liz, but have been on the Skyline Drive and the other section of that (my mind can't think of the name this morning) and found the Smokies to be very beautiful.

Thanks for the pictures! Sure hope the guy can fix Carol's brakes right where she sits! Thanks for staying with her until she gets saely back home. At least you seem to be in a pretty spot! Have a fun Saturday, and let us know what happens from here!

Soos, Carol has Good Sam ERS...she has broken down while traveling alone before, and she would be ok....but it probably is comforting to have someone with. The nice thing about having an RV is having our bathroom, water & food to last several days if needed.

The Cherohala Skyway is a relatively new scenic drive (1990's, I think) a little south of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I have a healthy appreciation for the the narrow, steep winding mountain roads.....they sure to take some attention. WIll have to look up some of your routes since daughter lives in Charlotte and the "Dog" Campground is in Rutherfordton....I almost always find excuses to head towards western NC! Thankds for the pics and the stories......will be waiting to hear the outcome of Carol's brakes....Good travels to both of you. :)

Beautiful view from up there! Hopefully Carol's brakes can be easily taken care of and yall can be back on the road. Stay safe and continue to enjoy the tour.
