I am thinking of starting a blog about my trip to CA and experiences out there, for my family and friends to read. What blog sites do you recommend that are user-friendly?

You will probably get a lot of votes for favorites, but I like the one on Good Sam. It's free and easy to use. :D

I started a blog when I started RVing and the site I used never approved my entry. I was upset since I had spent so much time on it  Never got up the courage to start another. Maybe I should try again. Let me know what you decide on, Barbie.

You have to get their approval? What site did you use? What did you put on there that they didn't approve of??

I use this one
http://www.blogger.com

It is somewhat user friendly. There is a learning curve to it, but it is fun and once it is set up it is easy to make posts and such.
I liked it because it offers templates and such to use. So you select what you want the layout to look like.

There are features I have not played with yet.

My is in the sig line below.
Kris aka Kristy
Wife to Norm
Mom to 3 boys and 2 girls
Many critters
2003 Dodge Ram 2500
2007 Crossroads Sunset Trail
DH has 2004 Dodge Durango
Not that I am great at keeping this updated...but I try..

Blogger - just mentioned, blogspot, and wordpress, are probably the 3 biggest. I use wordpress. Liz uses blogspot. All are easy if you understand computer stuff.

I started a blog on something else way back when - hated keeping it updated, etc, and quit. So sorry now - as my blog is my journal now. I love it! I also played around with templated on wordpress - stayed with a free one - but am using one that I could put bigger pictures on. I didn't want one with "expandable" pages - but that's a choice for me. I stayed away from ones that were with a service I paid for (like Good Sam's) because I didn't want to think I could lose my blog if I decided to discontinue their service, or if they shut it down. The singles site learned about that - as it was hosted with MSN - and MSN shut down all those forums a few years back.

I own my domain name, and host it with my webhosting service - but you don't need to do that with either wordpress or blogspot, and I don't believe with blogger, either.

It's all mainly a personal choice - they are similar in many ways.

Ha!!! I am not very computer savvey. I need something very basic and easy to use. I don't need a bunch of bells and whistles. Just want to post some pics and do daily or weekly updates. Is there a fee for all of them or are most free for the basics?

The one I use is free. I think it is fairly simple to maintain once you set it up.

You don't need to be real computer savvy, just basics. If you can post here, and add pictures, etc - it will be easy. It's a matter of learning it - and you won't use all the things it does. Most important is learning how to add pictures, and how to do a new message. I find wordpress real easy - but they all will have a learning curve.

I use www.blogger.com and I have found that it's easy with the templates provided. It's a good way for fam/friends to keep up with what's going on. You should try it, you'll like it! LOL

I signed up with Blogger.com today. Haven't posted anything on it yet, just working on setting it up for now. Thanks for all the advice! I will let you know when I have something worthwhile written on there!

I swear it was blogger.com or blogspot! I'm sure all the bugs are worked out by now. That was a few years ago. Let us know how you like it, Barbie!
