Dang it, I hate it when my post goes out to cyberspace and gets lost. Well to make a long story short, was reading a birding magazine and found some stuff developed by the army that was great on chiggers. Just went and researched it and found it. The name of the stuff is Chigg Away and you can order it online. It works great. But it is sulfur based, but a little bit goes a long way.

Ok, I'm going to confess. Didn't want to say anything since we always make plans and then JELLO happens. BUT have reservations. Look for me and tGM in site 13 on Monday and then in Branson. Might owe him a lot after this carold

Shouldn't have a problem with chiggers in Sept...BUT I spray myself with Eau de OFF as soon as I cross the NM state border into Texas and keep it on until I cross the NM state border on the way back. My son lives way out in the hills in Ar and he lets the chickens run loose in the yard to eat all of the chiggers, ticks and scorpions. (Yes, Arkansas has scorpions). They also have snakes. There's a reason I don't live there, even tho it would be free, and it's not all about the weather.

No Clairol number, I change it every time, that way the BF thinks he has a new sweety all the time....keeps him from getting bored and on his toes.

Only time I had a problem with chiggers was in WI - and under power lines. Learned later that's typical - cause they like where the bird poop is. Someone here the other day said their ankles were attacked after dark - I haven't had the problem - but probably means there are some here, also. Yeah, regular mosquito repellent should work fine.

Chiggars love me! I have always had problems with them. Must have yummy blood! I would cover the bites with clear nail polish (to suffocate them). Boy do they itch!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I stopped at a pharmacy in AR when I was suffering from all the bites and he told me that the polish doesn't work as the chigger isn't under your skin. Wish I would have known that before I painted my legs from my knees to my toes in clear polish!!

I use plain old rubbing alcohol, but I guess I have found a new thing to use Alligator Piss on!!!! It will insure that you don't get an infection. Hahahahaha The alcohol seems to stop them in their tracks (the bite that is) If I leave them alone, man they get BIG and the itch drives me crazy. Hopefully we won't have that many of them to deal with, but am packing my bottle of Chigg Away and alcohol just in case.

Mitch honey, if you drank two bottles of Alligator Piss we would have to pick you up with a big old sponge , ring you out into a bucket with a top on it, find someone to drive Sweetie home, pour you out into a bucket at your home and let poor old George decide what to do with the remains. Just don't let the doggie lap you down. Would love to see George explaining to the Tennessee State Police how his dog drank his wife after getting home from a GTG in Arkansas. :D
