Gone Again!

Postby sharon » Mon Jul 26, 2010 3:04 pm

Just letting you guys know that I'm leaving in about 30 minutes for the BF's house and then leaving for Oregon on the bike tomorrow morning at O-dark-thirty. We need to go up there to take care of some issues with his 91 yr. old dad. He has early dementia and is about to get thrown out of his retirement home because of all the ruckus he's caused,(he's already been told he's no longer welcome in the bank), so needless to say the BF is quite upset, his sister is in hysterics on the phone 3 or 4 times a week and things aren't good. His sister is a wonderful gal but this is just to much for her at times. Anyway, it's a good excuse to take a bike ride and I love his sister dearly and get along great with his dad. Be home in about 10 days, but not sure if I'll have computer access at Barb's house, so if you don't hear from me...that's why. Ya'll try to be good, Mitch and Vickie, don't make someone send you to your corners for a time out while I'm gone...that's my job! And I do love my job! Pay sucks but it's worth it, the benefits are fantastic!

I'm baack! No pictures, forgot the camera at the BF's house...bummer, there was some beautiful scenery we went thru. Got Dad all straightened out and it wasn't as traumatic as we thought it was going to be, thank goodness. Think he has finally, at least for the time being, figured out that he needs some help with stuff. Managed to get him to sign a Power of Attorney so Barb can pay the maintenence fees at the Mennonite Home where he lives and he'll never see the bill or or the money going out for it..that was one of the things that really sets him off. He just can't or doesn't want to remember that he signed the contract for those when he bought his apartment there 15 years ago. With the PoA they were able to get the paper work needed to finish doing his '09 taxes. For some reason he threw out all of the stuff the CPA needed. Now all of that paperwork will go directly to Barb and she can take it to the CPA. All of the bank statements will go to her, too. Mickey's also on the PoA, so if anything happens to Barb, Mick can step in and take over. She's 4 yrs older than Mick and not in the best of health. He has trouble finding a dogsitter, so I told him when I get back from Ark I would take his babies and he could run back up there for a week. I pretty much spent the week reading and relaxing, cooked dinner a couple of nights and ran a couple of errands for them. Good trip home, Albany to Reno, to Bishop and home today. Good weather all of the way, no rain, just chilly in the mornings. Now, to get Hope out and get her checked over and ready for the trip back east and the GTG!! She needs batteries and a few minor things, but need to get busy on her. Can't wait to get on the road!!

Thank you....I really didn't do anything but give moral support for Dad and back scratches on the ride!

I don't know about bf- but most of us would roll over and do whatever was wanted for good back scratches.

Probably why he doesn't squawk to much when I decide to ride with him instead of riding my own!
