WARM WEDNESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WARM WEDNESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:14 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

The sun is coming out, it's already 73 at 8:00, but we have a slight breeze fondling the leaves on my ancient apple tree in front of my trailer window as I sit here typing. The forecast is for occassional showers, but nothing horrific. Some areas had so much rain here yesterday that there are flooded roads north of us. We had a few minor sprinkles here yesterday, but nearly no rain to speak of, compared to the torrents the day before. I hope all of you on the roads today, some on your way here to the Ruckus, drive safely and carefully!

We had a huge bonfire last night at the firepit in front of the party barn. Three friends of Mandy and Joe, Richard, and I sat around it and chatted. It was a nice night until a few sprinkes of rain started falling at about 11:30 when the party broke up. I put up my awning in case we got thunderstorms overnight, but all was calm.

I will make some recipe today, and get some more ingredients for a hot dip I recalled loving yesterday, found a recipe for on the internet, and Mandy made for us for pre-supper snacks. We had hamburgers, fresh veggie salad, corn, and green beans and potatoes which she put together for a very good suppper. My exercise for the day was a short walk to the pond with Mandy, her two dogs, and Molly. Her dogs love swimming after sticks thrown into the pond, but Molly won't even put a toe in the water!

Today I am looking for Connie and Pete, and whomever else shows up! Mandy is picking up Weldon, my son, and Melissa at the airport at about 6:30 this evening. I haven't seen them since Christmas, and I am looking frward to that! He will have to borrow my truck and go to a bachelor party tonight for one of his best friends, and Melissa will stay here with us for the night.

Tomorrow will be Carol and Cedar and Kathy, and Kevin(?)

The weekend weather sounds wonderful for a Ruckus!

I promise to post Ruckus pictures on this site as well as the ORS site. I will need to clean off my little picture storage card today so I can have all Ruckus pics on it from now on until the end of the ruckus. I am really looking forward to this, as I do every year! We need to think about how many of you all are in FL for this upcoming winter, and we should start another yearly one for that area! YEAH!

Gonna go put my awning down again, and do some last minute things. Coffee is hot, so stop in and let us know what's up! Happy Wednesday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning All - we were planning a short last week - BUT the slide motor in the big slide in the Alfa went Kapoot - so it is in the shop. And we are sitting home sweltering (sp?) I'm just sitting here at the computer - glowing, no dewey?, No pers NO lets face it Sweating. Never cooled down last night - heat index here yesterday was 110 = today is supposed to be warmer. And we moved from Las Vegas why? All of Bills hanging plants are dying and the grass is brown even though he waters the flowers twice a day. Last summer we only had 4 days over 90 - this year I think its been only 4 days under 90 - enough already. Why did I complain about the rain!
Bill is sick in bed today with a summer cold - going to stay away from him. Got my sewing machine back from repair - seems like if it can it is breaking down - maybe the lightening strike did more damage then we thought. So far new microwave, new printer, new pond pump, fixed sewing machine, fixed scanner, fixed outside lampposts. The new Senior housing apartments being built downtown are starting to look better and better........
Everyone enjoy their day and have safe travels - Keep cool and dry.

Good morning all. I can sympathize with you Carol and all the others in this heat wave, it's going to be another hot one here today again with 110-115 heat index predicted. I won't watch the weather it's too depressing! I've canceled my Michigan trip until later when and if it cools off I'm not getting on the road in this!
Had a good evening last night my cousins came over and we played Mexican Train Dominoes and I had a score of 0 for all three games! Maybe I should have gone out for a lottery ticket!
So glad your Ruckus is off to a grand start Soos I hope you have lots more friends come in to help celebrate together.

Good Morning Ladies... still under a heat advisory here today... I guess this is what you call oppressing heat and humidity... must get out and pay my lot rent or maybe they will tack a late fee on... those are useless fees if you ask me; but no one ever does...

I should go away for a couple of months... then I will only have to vacuum and dust once... naaaa that would not help... so today I shall do the above mentioned chores...

I want to sew some curtains and the mention of a repaired machine reminded me of that... oh when we were in FL we also had a lightning strike... it took out out air conditioner, my computer, printer (and they were on surge protectors), sewing machine cannot remember anything else... that is when I learned that lightning is faster than the surge protector can react... (however some insurances will not cover unless you have surge protectors go figure!) better to go around and unplug everything...

Soos and all others have a great day...

Sorry for your homeowner/RV owner troubles, Carol. Then the oppresive heat on top of that!
We are just the opposite here in the PNW! Since installing my new AC it has only had to run for one day!
Our highs are in the 70s, 10* cooler than normal. I sure am not complaining as this is perfect weather to me.
I had my 2 GDs on Mon/Tues nights. Went home yesterday, but will be back tomorrow for a short visit while their
Dad goes to a Dr appt and their Mom works. I'm so enjoying them this summer. We leave on the 14th for our roadtrip
to CA! My DD was saying that we might drive the coast down and go thru the redwoods! I'm so excited as I love those trees!
We are trailering their motorcycles and she wants to ride her bike when we pass thru them
Today I'm taking my dog for his nail trim. It's 2 wks overdue and his nails grow like crazy!
Later today the guys are suppose to return to finish fixing my backyard fence. I'll be glad to have that done.
That's my day as I know it so far!
Everyone in the hot areas of the country, please take care of yourselves. Go to a cooling station if needed!

No heat wave here...I would not mind about 10 degrees of your guys heat...I like to get a few more days in the mid 80's before winter rains set in again.

Well today..I need to finish up a few things around the house. Run down to the trailer and get some bins that we use to keep the clothes in and set those up in the girls bedroom for the exchange student. Kodie will camp out in the living room, we might even set up her little tent for her. Yuka will only be here for 1 week. As they arrived the day we left for Montana so she spent her first 2 weeks with another family who is leaving for vacation tomorrow. So that worked out prefect to co-hosting thing.

My sister called today..to tell me she is on the road to Seattle...and wants to try and get together on Friday??? It is my BIL family reunion. Not sure how that will out as the kids all have activities and such. I will have to see what I can try and figure out.

Soos, I keep thinking that today is the day I would have been up with you. Ah, not to be this year but hopefully in FL this year. You all have a great time and keep the pictures coming for us.

Kathleen - that is a good reminder to everyone. Those that buy those expensive surge protectors they put in at the cg box - will NOT help in a lightning strike. Just like your tv and everything if your stick house gets hit - the lightning does not give that protector time to react - and that's when the majority of appliances in homes and rigs are lost. Best protection is unplugging the entire rig - if you think you're in a bad storm. I don't do that - but do unplug my computer every night - and should unplug some other things. I do know my insurance would cover it - but don't want to have it happen like you did. I had friends have it happen in their house - surprised the dickens out of them.

Hot again here - and it's okay with me. Refilled my bird feeder, walked Peaches early - then a short walk in the heat. Am going to go out in the kayak, but think I'm going to wait till later - and maybe be out closer to dusk. I should have gone early this morning - as the lake was still as could be - but needed to be in for a phone call at 10 - and was afraid I'd lose track of time.

Good afternoon! I got up and made myself some healthy apple oat bran pancakes w/maple syrup an egg, and cantelope for breakfast. I love my pancakes ;) I should call them "dump" cakes  I always throw in stuff I have on hand. I keep the crumbs at the bottom of my Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal, so I dump them in there, and sometimes oatmeal and ripe bananas or blueberries. I have some apples I need to use up so used my handy dandy Chop Wizard (love it, by the way!) and added them to my batter.

Rags and I took a nice long walk and the morning was actually pretty comfy after the heavy rains and thunderstorms. Rags couldn't snuggle any closer last night and this morning during the thunder  Poor guy was shaking :( My rain gauge had 2.4" for the last 24 hrs. Did I say I'm sick of rain? It's funny to see some of you saying you put out your awning when it rains. I'm usually taking mine in in case of high winds. I don't have a lack of rain water. I have a dish pan outside and I seem to be catching enough for my plants without anything feeding into it. If I did have my awning out, I could probably catch enough for a bath! I took some of Rags' dry dog food with me in case we saw our little mink friend, but no luck. We did go a bit later and maybe he does his snake hunting at a set time ;) I stood there and made the same sounds I have been making to get him to come check us out, but no sign :( Maybe tomorrow. Thinking of naming him Ernie.

I cleaned and lubed the jacks, added transmission fluid to the hydrolic pump, and releveled Myrtle. One jack won't go all the way down so not sure what the hangup is. I'm not going to worry about it for now. At least she's more level now. Also defrosted the freezer. Still need to defrost the fridge, but don't have a big enough cooler to do it all at once. Wanted to get the stuff back in the freezer and turned back on so I don't thaw anything. My peach pie that I put together and stuck in the freezer looks beautiful so I wrapped it up. Now, I just need a pot luck to bake it for ;) I'm kind of on a roll today, so should get off this computer and get more stuff done :D

As for lightning strikes...I lost power in half of my mh once after a lightning strike. It had just tripped one of my GFI outlets. I have also had my expensive surge guard shut off and recycle so I think they do work. Better than nothing, anwyay ;)

I use a Dremel with a little sanding wheel and it works great! I hate cutting them, as I hate when I accidentally hit the quick and make it bleed :o

Linda, Rags, and Brutus full-timing it in our 2017 Winnebago Micro Mini, Thumbelina.

Linda, I tried cutting his nails myself and the first time I heard him yelp and then bleed I gave it up! Haven't used the dremel, but that is what they use at the place where I take him.
He does really well if I hold him and Kathy or Matt does his nails. Seems less stressful for him....and me! :D
Every Wednesday is free nail trim day, so it doesn't cost me anything but the 1 1/2 mi trip and my time...
