RABBITS!!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

RABBITS!!

After mowing the lawn for what I am hoping will be the last time before the Ruckus, other than the one other area that I couldn't see in the fading light to finish last night, I was exhausted and missed out on the kids' campfire. It was another very chilly night, but seems to be warmer already this morning than it was yesterday at this time....61 degrees now. Molly and I crawled into bed not long after darkness enveloped us, and I slept soundly until 8:00 this morning----late for me! Hauling all the brush and rather heavy saplings I had sawed the day before was a very daunting job! My arms are feeling it this morning! I now need to go back over that area to cut the stumps lower to the ground, as the trees were so thick, I couldn't see where the rocks were, and wished to avoid hitting them with the nice, sharp saw blade. I see that I cut them all quite high, making an obstacle course for wildlife out there! They will love the new brush pile, but will hate those stumps! On the docket for today is the stump cutting.

We called Weldon and Melissa last night, and they will arrive at our local airport on Wednesday evening. I think my daugher will be available for picking them up, as I know Connie will be here for the Ruckus, and perhaps some others. Melissa will stay here Wednesday night, but Weldon will be off to the bachelor party for his friend who will be getting married on Saturday. Mandy and Joe will be around to lend some hands for people who are arriving, too, so we will have a good crowd!

Tomorrow is my doc appointment at noon, some last minute grocery shopping, and then nothing to do but hunker down and await the RVers! How I love this event each year! I might also pick some more of the scant supply of blueberies this year----I guess the cold and rain during blossoming season really kept the bees at bay, so not many blossoms got fertilized to produce their fruits. But the raspberries have been non-stop for nearly three weeks now.

I remembered to shout out RABBITS for good luck in August when I got up once in the night, scaring the pootie out of Molly who was snoring next to me! It's so hard to realize that July is a goner already.

Happy Sunday to us all, wherever we may be, and whatever we are doing.

Soos, take it easy hauling all that brush and what not. You don't want to throw your back out before the Ruckus. (Save that for dancing around the campfire - if you are going to injure yourself, it should be doing something fun. :D )

Didn't say Rabbits this AM. Managed to bark at a puppy that invaded my side of the bed in the early morning hours. :  I have my side and they (however many) have the other side. Staying inside today not doing any housework, so will enjoy a lazy day.

To all who are traveling, drive carefully and stay safe. Linda

I'm thinking that I will not be a full-fledged member of this forum until I know what

"RABBITS!!"

is about.

I learned this tradition from my grandparents and great grandmother. Beth's research discloses where it originated in the older of old days, I guess! It is very difficult, for me, at least, to remember to shout RABBITS before any other word comes out of my mouth on the first of every month. In my entire life, I would guess I have been successful in remembering only about 6 times! I have noticed I am getting better as I get riper!
