SATURDAY AFTER 35 DEGREE TEMPS!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SATURDAY AFTER 35 DEGREE TEMPS!

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Jul 31, 2010 7:36 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

When we went to bed last night, at about 1:30 am, the temperature was 35 deg. F.! We were all bundled up, sitting around the campfire, and it sure did feel good! Mandy and Joe arrived with their two dogs, a huge truck with a flat bed carrying their tractor and brush hog, and a few friends to help them load and unload. We made a steak, potato and corn cooked out dinner and then decided to change the fire location from the backyard by the barn to the front deck, as the grass was so cold and very wet. Mandy and her best friend from high school had a great time reconnecting and reminiscing about high school and college events-----and I learned a bit more about my young daughter's antics than I wanted to know! It was a fun night!

The plan for this week, as I understand it, is to mow the trails, clear out the deadfalls over the trails, clean up the cabin area at the pond, and whatever else needs doing. I had no idea this was the week designated for doing this, but I suppose it's because my son and his girl are due to be here this week, also. With the Ruckus going on, it will be a week to remember! I guess Wiley is the one who picked the dates, as I sure didn't know this was on the docket! Never a dull moment on the Lavigne Family Compound!

My only obligation is to make my doc's appointment in Monday at noon, do some last minute grocery shopping (I am excited to have my daughter here to help me cook, as she is a really good cook!)and then wait for the Ruckus to begin!

July ended up with a life-changing event for me yesterday-----I GOT MY FIRST RETIREMENT CHECK!!!!! I have never before been paid for doing nothing, and it will take no time at all for me to get used to that! The amount is just about what I estimated it would be, and it's possible, as they calculate in my latest year's salary, that it could ultimately go up a tad. I can handle that! I clicked on my bank account after getting a letter from the retirement system giving me a breakdown of what to expect for the month of July, and ZAP! There was money in there, just like my SS appears in the middle of each month! I was dancing around the fire last night (carefully, mind you!) in celebration!

Here's hoping you all have a great Saturday wherever you are or are headed. The sky is cloudless so far today, and the sun has brought the temperature up to 55 degrees! Happy Saturday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

35 DEGREES !!!! I want some :) Just a few hrs. would be lovely. I am going to give up listening to weather report for this area, in the 3 digits, are you kidding me. I 'm never going to get anything done at this rate. Hot weather and me, do not go together AT ALL.

Soos, sounds like you had a lovely evening last night, so glad too, that you danced so carefully around the fire :D Sounds like things are really looking up for you and you are beginning to feel better about your retirement. You're going to have a great time, just wait and see !!!

I fully understand about hearing more then you really cared to about the antics of your daughter when she was younger. Boy, have I been surprised at times, and so glad that I did not know at the time they were pulling this stuff. Think all mothers have been there

Haven't decided what I will do today, have a great urge to just get in the car and take off with a lunch for somewhere. So many roads to discover where they go up in this area yet. Every once in awhile, Maggie and I, pack up and run away for the day and this might be one of them. As I said haven't decided yet.

Have a Great day everyone. Take care all of you lucky ones on the road, ENJOY !!!!

Morning!
Glad you are enjoying that retirement $$ which you so earned and deserve!!
Highs for us today? Low 70s! Such weird weather!
The two college kids are doing a great job in pressure washing my fence. Today they will start staining and also replace a section that they found was rotted thru.
Other than that, nothing planned. Got caught up on the laundry yesterday, but do need to vaccum.
The shower is calling....
Have a super day everyone!

Good Morning All
Our heat advisory just got extended thru 8:00 PM on Monday. Some areas got rain but not near my house. Am so ready for cooler weather but not cold.
Have to get new license plate on van today as it expires at midnight. Not sure that I can muster up much more ambition for an outside task today or remainder of weekend. That is okay as there are certainly no shortages of indoor tasks waiting for attention. Just need to pick something and tackle it.
Wishing all a safe and happy weekend.

Good afternoon all. Soos, sounds like you are really gearing up for one fun filled week in the DAKS. Great news about the retirement money being what you figured. Now you can relax and get accustomed to getting paid for doing nothing and plan accordingly. :D

We are in for more triple digit temps with no chance for rain for about a week. At least the excessive heat warning has been dropped. Did a little gardening in the front yard before the sun hit the area. Too hot to do much, so back to the AC.

Take care all. Drive safely those on the roads. Linda

I'm one of those who will not complain during the triple digits - as I much prefer this to winter. And it didn't stop me from having a grand morning and early afternoon. Went to visit my friend near here - got to drive his little BMW sports car. (It's new to him - and since it had only about 12K miles on it - even at 9 years old - he got a DEAL). It's a sweet car and if Peaches and Jean's truck hadn't been parked at his house - he might have lost the car :)

Got a bunch of boxes out of his house and to the Salvation Army. Whew! Still more, I'm sure - but the worst of that job is getting done. And found some actually new stuff that instead of giving to the SA - well, at least one of these finds will be a present at the upcoming AR GTG. Hmmmmm.....

I know it's not morning - but just got back and life is good! Peaches agrees. She got to play inside and outside - go for rides - some of her favorite things - all topped off now with eating a bit of her food and napping. Ah, she has the life.

Seeing the park is so busy, the kayak probably won't get pulled out today. Maybe later tomorrow after many go home.
