Yes, these are for the shocks on the back end of my car. My springs are broken and I got the whole new assembly for both sides.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

How do they have 30 days to pay? As a former employer - not in IA - but in IL and WI - I couldn't have gotten away with holding checks for up to 30 days. And do they just pay you monthly - then they hold it? So it's the 21st of July and you haven't been paid for June? To tell you the truth, I'd be getting that paycheck and finding another job. I'm guessing that's what they're afraid of right now. Especially since you aren't working. Geez. They are really screwing with your money - paying monthly - then holding a month????How do they have 30 days to pay? It's Army Corps of Engineers, so Federal. They only pay their contractors monthly. I am a sub-contractor, so the contractors I work for say they can't afford to pay me until they get paid. I have been tossing around the idea of bidding on the contract so at least I will get even more money when we ARE open. I have heard the paperwork is intimidating so hoping maybe my son could bid it with me. I can't really look for another job at this point in the season, unless I get a temp job. We did open back up this past week so thank God I'm back to work! It is great pay when I am working, even as a sub-contractor.

Sorry - it doesn't matter what THEIR contract says - they cannot legally withhold your pay - whether they've been paid or not. Call those numbers I gave you. They cannot do this. Well, they can if you let them. But legally? Nope. Can't. The law is pretty specific about how people have to get paid - and paid timely - for the work they do. If I own a business (and I've owned several) and my clients aren't paying me, that doesn't mean that if you work for me, I can not pay you. Does not work that way.

And from what many tell me - the bidding on ACOE jobs isn't hard. And now that you explained that - I know the people who for several years worked an ACOE park - they hired staff - their staff wasn't under the contract they were - they hired them same as if they owned the business - and had to follow state laws of the state they were in to pay them.

Beth...Guess I don't know what recourse I have nor who to call. We (the sub-contractors) are also wondering how we will get our Sept. pay since we won't be here, so we need to be talking to the contractors. They are tough to talk to about stuff...another reason for wanting to bid ;) Maybe I will have a talk with the head Ranger. He would probably tell me what I need to do. It would be nice if he didn't like my bosses, either. That would give me an edge :D
