THURSDAY IN THE RAIN

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THURSDAY IN THE RAIN

GOOD MORNING ALL!

And the rains are coming down---again, or is it still? After an entire week of no rain, warm temperatures, and beautiful skies all last week, this week has been very different. I guess my day today will a trip to my little city nearby to pick up the electrical components I need to get my 30 amp service installed. Also a trip to the drugstore for prescription renewal. The sun is supposed to come out this afternoon, so then maybe I can get take some stuff----bedding and food and ice and drinks----to the leanto so I can spend some time down there. I also need to finish mowing a small portion of the front lawn.

We had tornado warnings yesterday-----we never have warnings up here, and it was scary as I was on the road coming back from my shopping trip to return my too-tall fold-up stool for this computer desk. I had the radio on, and the alarm noise came on---the one that is usually just a test of the emergency broadcast system. But this was NOT just a test! Tornado warnings for right where I was driving, with instructions to take cover. SURE! Take cover in my truck? There was one overpass on the entire road I was traveling on, and, by the time I got there, the skies looked slightly better than they had a while before, yet the time for the warning still had 20 minutes to go. Should I stay under there, or press on toward home? I kept trucking, and didn't get any horrible weather until I got right into my home town. The rain was so heavy I had to get off the road as I couldn't see to drive. The storms were moving fairly fast, so I soon got back on the road and arrived home, where I have a cellar in which I could seek shelter, if needed. Molly was frantic, as thunder was sounding and the rains began falling again, like a waterfall on the roof! Everything eventually passed over but for some scattered very heavy thunderstorms. It was quiet in the night, thank heavens! VT suffered some severe storm damage, including quarter-sized hail and heavy winds, but I haven't heard that any tornadoes actually formed from the twisting wind currents. I was happy to hear from Cedar last night, as I knew she and Kathy were camped right where the warnings had been posted!

Hope all is well wherever you are and whatever you are doing. Coffee is hot, so stop in and tell us what's up!

By the way, I didn't find the fold-up stool/chair in the size I needed....am looking on the internet now.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

good morning
last payday today until later in august and its a week short! It only had ONE day pay on it????
Will have to stew over it for a couple hours yet until somebody gets in the office and I can
inquire about it. Payed the auto insurance because one days pay covers that and I of course
have to maintain my drivers license. The week short was suppose to cover the rv payment
and other things. I'm beside myself with worry now. I've never not had the money
for the payment! Needless to say, I'm freaking out.

Sitting in a very quiet house..wondering if I am the only one excited to get on the road today. It is a short miles. We are only going as far as Winthrop, WA. Many people talk about going and camping in that area...since it is so close to home I wanted to check it out. So maybe we can plan some a weekend trip over that way next summer.

I really want to camp more...seems like we hardly got out this year. With baseball every weekend (Sat/Sun) in April -June...that did not help. Next year DS will play a different League and they have weekday games with an occasional Saturday Game. DS friend, Taylor's team..is still going. They won sectionals and Regionals and are headed off to California for the West National Playoffs..if they win that they play in the World Series...which means baseball til the second week of August. DH was talking to T dad last night and T is ready for it to be over, he loves baseball and is having fun..but he is ready to start football. If they do continue on, he will miss the first couple weeks of football practice. DH said..not much of summer vacation there. T's dad did say they were going to Disneyland. Then he said, they usually do not take summer vacation anyway..as they take winter vacation...which is true they do go to Hawaii every winter for 10 days. DS has 2 friends on this team..one's that he is close the. THe other one Cody. When they won regionals, Cody little sister jumped up and yelled we are going to Disneyland...she keep jumping then fell. She landed just the right way (or wrong way and broke her arm. She is doing okay, it will be weeks though, as she broke both bones in the arm.

Well the coffee was great, but I should get breakfast going. I am going to make pancakes this morning. The girls picked huckleberries yesterday. We have 3 plants that grow right by the house. I use to have more, I tend to them and keep the blackberries from taking them over. When they built the house next to ours they took a lot of them out.
They were on the property line and across it. I tried to transplant one, but it did not work.

I will do my best depending on internet service to update the blog with pictures and happenings. I am thinking it of changing the blog title to Family Adventures..that way I can use it to document our adventures and not feel bad that I am not keeping up with my friends that have blogs and post 2-3 times a week. I have facebook for that. LOL

Will be think of you Ava. It is frustrating when the glitch of someone else wrecks that careful planning on your part. My step sister has recently been through a few of those and unfortunately she had enough of her own to work her way through she didn't really need any additional worries.

AM happily sitting back in me office with a strong signal for the first time in months and months. I finally got tired of having to sit in the kitchen to get the WIFI signal consistently, especially since the printers were all in the back room. Problem solved by throwing $$ at it...as in my purchasing a stronger router and handing it of to the husband. It is partially may fault I should have spoken up several years ago when I first bought the router so that we could upgrade from dial up (ug :=( )and I could make better use of my laptop. My husband primarily used his desk top so the original router went in his office......and over time I realized too late that it was not strong enough to send a consistent signal to my office area at the other end of the house...not really that far away but apparently the router thought so. Anyway, I am a much happier camper and the kitchen will stay a little less cuttered as I had developed the habit of leaving other "stuff" in the area...like that purse, correspondence and bills needing to be paid...back up hard drives....are you getting a picture of the pile slowly growing :) I am hoping with the set up back where it belongs and the purchase of an improved back up system I will develop better computer habits of backing up my files more regularly..... I do have a question for Beth about how she backs up her pictures separately and/or maintaines herphoto files on a separate hard drive.....I am thinking that would free up lots of memory space o here.....
Okay now that the computer is working well and connecting strongly...I have no reason to put off catching up with the banking and bill paying I am suppose to be doing for the SM.....sigh.
Everyone have a good day, enjoy your adventures and be well.

Just read Jemeck's post: I only have two kids but there was a broad span of years we didn't vacation at all due to athletic camps, 4-H camps and camp counselor responsibilities preparing, Jr. Fairboard responsibilities getting ready for fair, and with the daughter she was working through it all to earn money for HER planned "trips" to Europe with a group from her school. One Sophomore year and one after Senior year. Could say that is why I appreciate the ability to travel so much now! :) We were definitely having family adventures they just looked different. I did make sure that both kids got to experience "travel" I just couldn't afford to go with them. Now they are on their own and they both seem to appreciate and utilize the "wings" that they were given. Now it is my turn :D

Good Morning Ladies, it is cloudy here and warm... no rain yet today...

I can sure relate to piles of mail... I put things aside thinking I will need it then find out I should have thrown it away at first glance...

Soos glad you did not get blown away by some stray wind during that tornado warning...

I am enjoying the quiet now... Jackie my daughter and Sekana my granddaughter left yesterday morning... it was a good three weeks they spent here... Jackie helped me go through everything... now the big chore will be to mark things for the garage sale... what does not sell will be given to charity...

The Motor Home started with one turn of the key yesterday... I will need to get it cleaned by the end of August so I can go north to visit friends... but today I will just enjoy the quiet...

My dryer quit drying clothes Tuesday... glad my daughter had all of her laundry done... there were towels left... but the repair man came yesterday within an hour of the time I called... it was a solenoid... that was a $85 bill but worth it as I cannot fix things like that... got the towels dried and folded then vacuumed and things look very good...

coffee is great with my creamer I need to make another cup... write a note and enjoy your day...
