GOOD MORNING AVA AND ALL!
Good to see some hot coffee ready and waiting for me today! Thanks, Ava!
Yesterday was such a fun day for me! I met a friend I used to share a house with my first year teaching up here, and we reminisced all afternoon! She was teaching art, and I was teaching Phys. Ed. and Science. My salary was 4800, and, as she began teaching a couple of years earlier, hers was about the same. We rented an entire, large house for $60.00 per month, and the heating bill was about the same. Gas was way under a dollar per gallon, groceries were dirt cheap, and life was good. We both agreed we felt richer than we have ever felt again. What a character she is----she now buys and remodels and fixes up houses and then sells them at a profit! She's one tough woman! Her kids are all asking her to slow down and enjoy life, and she has to tell them this is how she enjoys it!
And then when little Hope, the bear cub, reunited with her mom, and is able to get milk from her, I cried and danced with total joy!
The North American Bear Center ended up 3rd in the Chase Bank favorite charity contest, I believe, and so earned 100,000 for their debt reduction fund! All us Hope and Lily fans really made an impact with our votes.
My friend, Laura, and her husband, Bill, took me out to dinner last night here at the lodge of the campground. We sat by the water for a long time after dinner and recalled the many years of fun we shared as our kids were growing up. What a wonderful day was July 12, 2010!
It's cool, about 72 degrees, and a nice strong breeze off the lake is making it another perfect camping day. I cannot believe my luck in choosing this week for my 'vacation' week this year! And it was so unplanned! I just got so hot at home last Thursday, knew there were some spaces here on the lakefront, and off I hauled! It's been a real vacation, as I can't do any major household chores here! My big chores yesterday were to carpet-sweep out this trailer, with one of those battery powered little sweepers they advertise on TV a lot, wash out a few clothes and unobtrusively hang them out to dry, and take a bath and wash my hair last night. Tough day at the beach! Oh yes, I fed the baby ducks and their moms, too.
I may head home today and take some heavier laundry and cans and bottles, pick up some more dog food for Molly, check on the house, and, if they are ripe yet, pick some blueberries. OR----I may just hunker down here, as I think I have enough Molly food for another 4 meals, which is all I will need.
Hope you all have a great day doing something fun for yourselves. Coffee is hot and Hazlenut, so stop in and share some!
Life is about learning to dance in the rainHappy travels!
