windows is REALLY irritating

Postby retiredhappy » Fri Jul 09, 2010 10:36 pm

I have an occasional problem with windows. All of a sudden my screen scrolls to the bottom of something and when I try to take back to the top, it just keeps scrolling back down. Other than backing all the way to my home page and sometimes even to my sign on page, I can't seem to get it to stop. Any ideas? Irritates the %^*((&^ out of me.

Don't have that problem, but when I try to do a long post with pictures here, it keeps going to the top of the post. Don't know if it's windows or this forum. So no, sorry, can't help you out.

Sharon, we kinda touched on that problem with posting on another thread. Here I thought it was just me.
Karen, don't have that problem. Perhaps there's something under tool and options that need clicked or unclicked. ;)
Sad part is, I can sometimes fix what the problem is, but haven't a clue which of all my clickings actually fixed it!!
Sometimes it's as easy as shutting down and letting the computer/iPhone/cable box sit a few minutes, and then reboot.

Karen, any chance you have a wireless mouse?

I'd start with trying a different mouse and/or a different keyboard.

any chance your scroll lock key got a crumb in it? Now and then when my keyboard
acts up I turn it upside down and tap it on the bottom shaking out all the little
dust particles that somehow get in it.

It doesn't happen on any particular page but I do have a new mouse. Ummmmmm???? I click like crazy when it happens and nothing fixes it except backing out. You gotta love computers.

It's the mouse. For your problem, Karen. You should be able to stop it by lifting off the mouse, then right clicking (I think it's a right click, but if that doesn't work, try the left click). It usually happens if the mouse thinks you've held the button down too long.

As the this window, when typing. When you get to the bottom of the window, it jumps. Not sure why. But all you have to do is keep typing and it'll go back down there. It's a pain, but I can go on and on and on LOL I'm going to have to go to their forum one day and see if there's a better fix for that - but it happens when this little window needs to add a scroll bar.

It doesn't go back down when I continue to type, I have to scroll down every few sentences and check my typing. Gets to be a pain which is why my trip reports are in segments.

Doing them in segments works. Some people type their posts in another program and then copy them into here, also. Lots of options. And I don't know if I'll ever go through the technical stuff to find out why that happens, when most likely, we wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Here's the fix for that most annoying phenomenon----after messing with all my possible solutions for days on end, I discovered this remedy.

On words at top of browser page, choose TOOLS.

Go to COMPATIBILITY VIEW, and check that. PRESTO! All fixed----at least it worked for me and kept me from destroying my computer!

Karen,
I had to keep working to make mine do that lol - and when it happens, put the mouse over the scroll bar and LEFT click - it'll stop it. I'm still not quite sure what causes it, but I know how to stop it :)
