Mini NW gtg: Idaho

Let's get together!

Mini NW gtg: Idaho

Postby Liz » Thu Jul 08, 2010 1:34 am

My friend Joselyn and I are camping at NF cg where Sheila (Snowball) & dh are workcamping in Idaho. It was great to finally meet her. She picked us out a beautiful site beside the Snake River:

Once settled, she invited us to share a campfire and chat. Not an ordinary campfire:
Image

She uses special Tum Tum wood...I think she said it was from Africa, but it was hard to understand her with her tongue in cheek.
Image

It's a secret she shared with me, but I won't divulge....at least until the next gtg.

Here we are: Sheila, Liz, Joselyn

We talked about everything from families to Quartzite. Tomorrow Joselyn, Roe, and I will check out the river trail to the rapids. I got her to sign the official GTG banner in a spot reserved for all the NW mini gtgs I hope to have. Then the banner gets mailed to Lori in time for the PA gtg.

I am loving your trip! Thanks for taking the time to share with those of us stuck at home!! :)

Now, on to the Flaming Rainbow...

Pour water into a bucket. Use sufficient water to be able to wet your pinecones, sawdust, or waste cork. Skip to step 3 if you purchased your colorant in liquid form.

Stir in colorant until you can't dissolve any more. For sawdust or waste cork, you may also add some liquid glue, which will allow the pieces to stick together and form larger chunks.

Add the pinecones, sawdust, or cork. Mix to form an even coat.

Let the material soak in the colorant mixture for several hours or overnight.

Spread the pieces out to dry. If desired, pinecones may be placed in a paper or mesh bag. You can spread sawdust or cork out on paper, which will also produce colored flames.

Glad you got to meet Sheila....isn't she a sweetie? And Larry, too! Sounds like to much fun!

What a great trip you all are having, We all knew Sheila was a sweet lady, but so nice to put a face to that sweetness. Love, love, love the campsite, right on the water, can't beat that. I also like the fact you all are in jackets, means you're in my kind of country :) Really enjoying all of the pix and wishing you all safe travels and many many more pix for the rest of us. Exciting wondering who you plan to visit next and also what sights we might have coming our way.

Safe and Happy travels,

I forgot to say earlier - Sheila, it's great to put a face to the name!! And that campsite is spectacular. Now, I'm REALLY envious.

And I didn't ruin it, but if I did, it was TINA'S fault! Blame her.
But you can buy Tum-Tum wood at Amazon. So there!!

I, for one thank you and Tina, Mitch for the answer on the campfire, which was realllly pretty. Hey, its enough to be so curious as to where Liz, is going to end up next and what route she is taking, and who she is meeting along the way. I can only take so much here now, I am a very nosey person and I can't have a whole list of things, I have to be wondering about. ;)  So be kind people, there is that small notion, that she might not know Sheila's secret. But I for one am not going to think along those lines.

Carol, remember being nice to Mitch doesn't mean she's gonna be nice to you! I try that daily, to no avail.

I know, Vicky, but i have a booboo, so she'll be nice for a little bit, huh? :? I know I always have to be careful how I phrase things, I fall into so many traps, my mind just doesn't work like some people I know.
Thanks for the warning,

CArol

(looks like I've done it again. )  :?
Wish I looked that sexy, Mitch, for real

Nice, try Mitch, but Sheila's secret is much simpler than all that.

I do have to say though, if you're ever in that part of Idaho, do plan a stop at the Upper Coffee Pot cg. It's the cleanest, neatest, prettiest, NF cg you will likely ever see, and I've seen some nice ones. The cleanest, neatest part is due to the fine cg hosts. Sheila and Larry are the friendliest kind of folk. And they both have hidden artistic talents that Sheila hasn't shared with you. I'm glad I had the chance to meet them, and will surely look for them if I'm ever in their vicinity again.
