GOOD MORNING CAMPERS!
Another morning dawns cloudless, hazy, and warm at 67 degrees. No breeze at all out there yet, but sure do hope it comes back as strong as it was yesterday. It feels warmer and more humid today, but I am wondering if it's just the lack of a breeze.
My job for today is to return to the pond and clean, vacuum, and recalk the leanto where the winter's winds have blown the oakum out of the spaces between some of the logs. If I were really ambitious, I would also take my mini-cordless chainsaw, cut down some balsam saplings, peel them with a peeler I have down there, and then nail those between the logs and over the oakum. It is a very messy and sticky job as the balsams have such resinous sap when you peel off the bark. It would be the solution for having to recalk every year, however, as where I have done that with baby balsams in the past, things look very neat and tidy. I may wait for that part of the 'fixin' up' until it's cooler.
I believe I will try once again to go to the DMV and get my enhanced driver's license, as I saved a slip from my last UPS order with a street address on it. With that and my electric company bill with a street address, (you need 2 proofs of where you live) my original birth certificate, my social security number, and whatever else I took with me the last time, including the application in triplicate, maybe I can pay to update my license to allow me to go back and forth to Canada without too much trouble. When I head west again, I will undoubtedly start the trip by heading into Canada and not hitting the U.S. again until Sioux St. Marie. It's much shorter and much nicer than going south around the Great Lakes for me.
I also need to go to the bank to cash my last school salary check. Still no news about the incentive money I was promised---I need to call school about that, too.
Then, if it's cool enough, I can always do some staining on the house! And the firewood needs to get stacked and tidied up. My motion detector lights need to be replaced as lightning zapped them last year. I am afraid it got the circuit to them, however, as the bedroom lights plugged into the same circuit no longer work, either, and trip the breaker down in the cellar. I will leave that to someone who knows what they are doing. I suspect a new wire will have to be run and a new breaker installed, plus, of course, replacing the lights outside themselves. They have been sitting on the porch awaiting replacement for a year now. Getting to them on the outside of the house is no easy chore on a tall ladder.
Meanwhile, I am going to read my email, sip on some coffee, and relax in the shade of my trailer awning. I already let a mouse go that was in my live trap this morning in the house. None have been caught in here, thank goodness.
Stop by and tell us about your day and your plans....we love to know about others!
