I love it, Sue! Ever since I saw Cedar's, I have been in love with the slideout area and the sofa with the removable table. I have since removed my built-in dinette table, and have this laptop set up on a fold-away one. Now I really want to remove the extra dinette bench to make more room for storage and to move around. Three very stubborn screws are keeping me from getting it out, so far.

Hey Sue, That is awesome and looks like it will 'fit you' just fine. Wasn't the shopping, researching, looking a lot of fun. Then the 'ahh hah' moment which was more fun. The picking it up was just added fun, tho a bit scary. The glorious part is sitting down in your travel trailer, it just makes you smile, and smile and smile - everytime for a long time.

On the storage side of things, remember you have a weight balance trick to do here. You can only take so much material (read stuff) with you. When you load the material, you need to be mindful of 'even distribution' of the weight. What they told me was, it isn't pound for pound front/back and side/side, but it needs to be fairly well distributed. (New and factory furnished is "supposed" to be fairly correctly loaded weight wise. Is it? I don't know.) If you are 40 or 50 pounds off on the distribution, you can affect the movement of the trailer/motorhome. The amount that you should load and be able to carry safely will be posted in your trailer or may be in your manual. Other important information for travel trailers is the tongue weight and I don't remember the overage but seems like it is 5 - 7% before you are in danger. That should be in your manual, too.

Your first out and overnight trip will be quite exciting, but I found the 2nd and 3rd even more exciting. Then the world was mine and I wanted to do it all the time - you might too! Happy traveling, Marvelous memories, and have Fabulous fun.

I am getting so many ideas from all of you. I am leaning towards a rear kitchen and a bathtub as high on my list. Also,, a cabover bed and no other. I really dislike those "corner" beds where the corner sticks out into the rest of the room. If I have a cabover bed then the rest of the unit can be storage and/or kitchen and bath. what do you all think?> Give me some pros and cons of these choices,, see voo play!

That's exactly what I will be looking for. Altho, I occasionally hem and haw about a back corner bed. A 21' to 23' class C should have what you are looking for. A 24' or larger has the corner bed.

I have a corner bed in my 26' RV. It was #1 on my list of 'must haves' when I was looking for an RV for just me. Having had a camper with an overhead bed when camping was a brand new thing & I was young with a husband & 4 kids...I remember having to climb out of it & even being young & certainly more agile than I am now, that wasn't my favorite thing to do. (Should I insert at this point that I am somewhat 'clumsy'... ) So I am all for a corner bed on the 'ground floor'...However, it was a challenge to make the bed up each day....unless you have a 'Travasack'....then it's no problem. I bought one soon after I bought my RV & found out they make such things & have never been sorry....absolutely love it. As far as the corner bed...well, at my age getting up in the middle of the night to visit my very own bathroom isn't a worry ... I still marvel that there are so many conveniences in my little home...fully equipped bathrooms, ( have always HATED the pit toilets & some of the other public toilets I've seen over the years), beds close to the ground, microwave ovens that WORK, TV's or radios, or CD's or any of those entertainment things...plus of course all the other stuff. Having camped for many years & tried everything from tenting to trailers to campers to 5th wheels (my favorite but not something I can handle as a single woman RVer that travels alone especially being as I started as a lone RVer in my mid-60's )....Anyhow, I've learned to appreciate the 'wonder' of all the great improvements since then to now...So, whatever you choose that's right for you...enjoy it....but remember....take care of 'it'...cause 'it' takes care of you.....

Janet, the only con I can think of with the overhead bed is getting in and out. Climbing up all the time can get old fast. I have that problem with the truck camper and have decided that I no longer want that. Plus there isn't much head room up there either if you plan on reading or watching TV in bed. I can sit up if hunched over a bit, which is not really comfortable for a long time.

now that you mention it,, i might have second thoughts about having the cabover bed as the ONLY one. I sorta forgot about the middle of the night trips to the head. But i KNOW that cabover is a great place to store extra stuff... the ones w/ the tv/stereo stuff to ME, is a total waste cuz im not that needy of the media comforts. I;d rather have the storage. But,, hey,, I'm sure I will change my mind a bunch of times b4 I finally decide what I want!

An idea you might thing about is a small MY that has a dinette on one side and a sofa on the other. Can put the dinette down and make a permanent bed, get a small table to eat on and use the sofa. And if you could find something like that with a slide, similar to my trailer, you would have all you need. Could use the overhead bed as a storge area. I have slept up in those cabovers and they do get to be a bit cramped after awhile and like others have said, get old climbing up and down. Somehere on this site, somebody took out a dinette and replaced it with a bed, forgot who it was.

Aren't the dinettes kind of short for sleeping on, tho? That's what I've heard anyways. I figure for a few more feet on the rig, you can get the corner bed and then just use the cabover bed for guests (or storage).

Like Excel, I have the back corner bed. I LOVE my rig - and the new one I found this weekend that I hope to buy used in a couple/few years to replace this one also has a back corner bed. Now that I'm used to making it, I don't even find that a pain. But I have considered buying what Excel has. I also like having the cabover instead of an entertainment center there, as I love the extra storage I have. Jean once said if she had that, she'd put a rod all the way across for hanging clothes. I just keep lightweight stuff up there, but lots of it that is oddly sized - and wouldn't fit easily into the cabinets of an entertainment center.

However, what's perfect for me - is not the right choice for others. There are lots of people out there who don't mind the cabover. And there are lots (including some on this forum) who have converted the dinette or sofa in the short rigs with back kitchens into a permanent bed. There are lots of ways to do things - and pick what's right for you.

But I am thinking she understands because she is answering the questions also I pulled the couch out of mine and had a 31 inch bed put in. Much more comfortable for me. The dinette seats were too short for my legs so that came out.....it also gives the dogs and I a much wider isle. I miss not having a cab over bed only because it might be nice for storage and makes a guest bedroom available.....

That's okay if you want to highjack my thread. It's getting interesting reading what others are saying about cabovers etc., and what others are doing. That's what I was trying to think of when Birdbybird said she had taken out the sofa. I remembered somebody doing either a dinette or sofa but couldn't remember what. Another great idea.
As to my rig, it's ready to roll except for putting water on board and going over the inside of the frig before I start it up. Going to do that maybe tomorrow. Was thinking of going over to the park a day earlier cause my site is open but after looking at weather forecast calling for possible frost tomorrow night, it might be a bit too chilly to bother. I was thinking of taking it with me when I went in to work and just parking it on my site till later when I'm done and then setting it up.
Been busy in there too. All washed down with Murphy's, non-skid shelf liner in place except for one cabinet where I ran out and don't have anything going up there anyway right now. Mounted the Paper towel holder on wall over kitchen sink window, the towel bar at top of my shower wall below skylilght. My bath is pretty small so I didn't want that thing sticking out where I can bump it. Plus I can hang wet things on it to drip in shower. Same said for toilet paper holder. Mounted on inside of vanity door so it's out of the way of being banged against. Hook on inside of bathroom door to hang towel and there was already a round towel hanger on wall for my hand towel. Might get a smaller one for my washcloth which is currently hanging on the toothbrush/cup holder thing cause I won't be using that. Have a rechargable toothbrush so no need for holder. Got a few other ideas about making a remote control holder and a little box thing to be mounted on the wall lin cabinet for spices etc.

You're going to want the fridge on for 24 hours or more before loading it. Just a head's up. It's small and cools down fast, but still takes some time.
