GOOD MORNING ALL ON THIS 4TH OF JULY 2010!

"In the year 2525" is beginning to not sound so far fetched any more, is it?? "IF Man is still alive...." Let us hope Man will rebound, wise up, take care of his home, Earth, and all of its creatures on it. That said, HAPPY SUNDAY!!

It's 69 degrees outside and 68 inside here so far today.....I have a 12 volt fan circulating the air in here, as it's very still today. The sky is overcast, but not menacing-looking-----supposed to be fairly nice wearm day. I put my awning out, as the hefty winds of yesterday are gone. I guess I'll pack up my tent today and stow it back in the truck, along with all my accoutrements! Mandy made it safely back from a visit with her myriads of cousins in West VA-----her grandmother's side of the family (father's mother) has tons of relatives. I guess she had a good time, and was glad to make their acquaintances.

We had the first bonfire at the party barn last night-----my reward to myself for swamping it out all day yesterday. Friends of Mandy and Joe stopped by, so we had a good group. I went to bed fairly early, about 1:30 am, as they all piled into trucks to head for the pond.

If it gets as hot as they are saying it could today, Molly and I will go to Oregon Pond, a beautiful place to swim (with no leeches as my pond now has seemed to grow) which is about 8 miles, or so, from here. I can't wait to swim!

Hope you have a wonderful picnic. Kath, and anyone else who will eating outside today.

I hope you all will have a wonderful day of celebrations, wherever you might be, and whatever you might be doing. Don't forget some thoughts for our military who are far from home, and also those who have fought for us in the past. I hate fighting, but, as it seems to be a part of humankind's history, we need to at least honor those who put their lives in danger for whatever the causes.

Our fireworks for tonight will be the Milky Way, the quiet passing of satellites and meteors, and the skyfull of summer constellations. The show was beautiful out there last night, and I am hoping tonight will be as clear for the show.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

God Bless America!!
A bee-u-tiful morning here in the PNW!! I had my 2 GDs overnight so their parents could run in a 10K race at 8 this morning. The all four ran a 5K yesterday AM and the girls weren't up to another early morning race today. They brought their bikes so we will be doing that today and then my neighbors invited us to their bbq and later fireworks. Fireworks are legal in the state of WA so the fire stands have been doing a brisk business with the weather co operating this year.
They are forecasting the weather to turn hot (90s) this coming week. I, along with allot of others in the area, do not have AC in the house so will have to open the house up early and then shut it up when the sun peeks out.
Sounds like your first campfire was fun, Soos! No reports of broken ribs, so I guess you behaved yourself. :D
Enjoy the day and take time to remember those past who gave us this freedom we take for granted.

Morning all. Just lost my message to cyberspace, due to my own idiocy. Yep, I did it to myself :)

Weather here on the moutain in Huntsville has been marvelous for the past several days. Humidity has dropped and some breeze comes in overnight so that we can have windows and doors open all morning and for me all day yesterday. Had to close up and turn the air on last night cuz the cicadas were LOUD. And I mean LOUD lol.

I almost went to the Astronomical Society next to us last night. They are open with programs on Saturday nights during the summer (only once a month the rest of the year). Anyway, most Saturday nights the weather hasn't made it worth going. Last night was gorgeous. But I backed out. See, I know I should enjoy it. But I have a tendency of being lulled to sleep at these types of things. Years ago my partner and I went to a program at the Chicago Planetarium. I'm told it was fabulous. I wouldn't know. They had really, really comfie chairs. Leaned back, looking at the night sky - and in moments, even with the person doing the lecture, I was sound asleep. They might as well play a Brahms lullaby for me :)

Quiet here at the cg. OK with me, but surprising. This Friday we're moving to a cg on Lake Guntersville, and I figure we won't see any quiet weekends after that. But we're both looking forward to the change of view. It's great here at Monte Sano - but now it's time to play in the water. I've told Peaches she's not allowed on the beach area, but I'll make sure to get her to another section of waterfront often. It might be time for me to order my kayak - if I could convince myself to spend the money. I might just get a small float to lie on and relax. We'll see.

Off to work on scanning in more pictures. It's going faster than I thought, and I'm enjoying doing them. Fun to go down memory lane.

Happy 4th!
Last night, after a nap, I went over to a bar on the lake to meet with a new singles group. There were about 10 people there from the group. We sat by the firepit (no fire :( ) next to the lake. Saw some fireworks across the lake from a Country Club who do theirs a day early. It was very hot and steamy out but the breeze off the lake felt wonderful! Only stayed for 2 hours. Have to say the service at that place is awful! Even when me and Linda were there, it was bad. But had a nice time anyways.

I posted a new thread about the Saylorville levee leak where Linda (Bikerchic) is staying. I hope she stays dry and safe! I will keep you posted on what is going on there with her (and my potential camping trip in a week!).

Going to a cookout this afternoon at my sister-in-law's brother's house on the lake. May go out in the boat later for fireworks. Otherwise I will stay home and sit by the dock. I can see about 8 different displays of fireworks across the lake from me, from various communities south of here.

Had a lot of rain this morning but seems to be clearing up now and is much cooler out, so that is good.

Hope you all stay safe, dry and have fun today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
