Off on the "Madian Voyage"

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jul 01, 2010 8:21 pm

Well, it's loaded and hitched up and I am taking off in the morning. Not that I am going far, just over to the state park where I work. Only about 3 miles up the road. But it's the first trip with the new rig. Have to work so can't go far.
No problem backing into the hitch. Just took my time and watched this little spot on my rearview mirror. Kind of lined it up with the key lock on the front window. Was off by just a fraction when I contacted the hitch. So just pulled up a bit, made a minor correction and hit it on the nose. I'm proud of myself. Now to back into the campsite. Don't expect any problem there either cause it's about 40 feet wide and no trees exept for the ones on the passenger side way over. Our activity building is on the other, way over too. I could actually drive in and park sideways if I want. But I want that back in experience cause not all sites are like this.
Course I will be running home twice a day for the dogs and also do a quick grass cutting in back. So I will pick up whatever I need and am not packing much in clothes since I have to come back here. Just lougning around iln the evening duds and something to wear in early morning when I get up and bring dogs home. Will change into my uniform here. Will give me a chance tosee what I need and don't. Tell you all about it when I get back and I wlil take pics.

Have a great time - even if you'll be working, it is your first trip in your new rig - and that's exciting!

How exciting, Sue! I can't wait for some pics! And the dogs can stay with you at night, yes? So they can get used to the rig, too!

I will set up my truck camper-top and my wrap-around tent again today, to see what I will need if/when I take it to VT for a bluegrass festival next week. I want to make sure I can fit everything I will need into the truck, and that, when I get there, I can know how to set it all up! I also need to know what I might need to pack that I haven't though of yet. Why am I not taking my trailer? I need to check out the route to this place first, to make sure there aren't any low bridges, dead end streets where I can't turn around, and find out where the free ferry to VT takes off from---the one replacing the bridge that they took down and are replacing. I am hoping the ferry leaves from the same spot.

I remember my first trailer haul, and it was amazing! I know you will feel so self-satisfied when you arrive at your destination with your home behind you!

This is so exciting !! Waiting to hear how you did backing in, and how you felt driving down the hwy with your vacation home behind you. Such a great feeling.
I'm so happy for you, I love your rig.

Safe and Happy travels,

Oooh.... I got nostalgic goosebumps up my neck. Enjoy settling-in to the new TT. You'll find that you have lots of little things you forgot. Which is fun, 'cuz you can get more STUFF for it. LOL. Enjoy.
