I'll try to make this as short as possible but it is important. When I returned from my trip to the Grand Canyon 2 wks. ago, as there were really terrible winds, sand, dust, etc., I wanted to clean my RV of all that residue. As I was washing the floor (lino @ kitchen area), I noticed that the laminate at the bottom of the cabinet below the sink was looking water damaged. I had not detected any water leakage on my almost 3 week trip & was very upset at seeing this. I opened the cabinet door & again, didn't see any moisture, but proceeded to remove all the stored articles in there just to make sure. After doing so, I found more moisture damage, though slight, nevertheless there. I could not find any kind of leakage from any of the hoses, etc., connections, etc. in this area below the kit. sink. But I decided to open the adjacent storage area from the outside & open the same area from the inside under my sofa. After removing all the storage there I found evidence that the carpet underlay also had moisture evidence, though dry. Could not determine where this moisture could have come from. Called Born Free & explained the situation, but the Rep there who is absolutely an expert, told me that he could not understand why I had a problem (after I explained all the tests I'd done, etc. trying to find where water was coming from). He did say however, that water leaks are sometimes very hard to locate. I then took the RV to my repair shop....they couldn't find any source of water leakage either. But, while we all stood around talking while looking at the inside of the cabinets, it struck me that I always use a Quick Disconnect at the water inlet when I'm in a park. Though it sometimes leaks at the outside area, where the hose connects to my RV, I've put a prop in there (below the hose) & that has stopped the leakage. What the Maint. tech said, that maybe it stopped the leakage from the outside, but it might have caused a spray on the inside walls, which would explain the wide area of moisture evidence I found when I removed everything. Anyhow, as I'm going to be putting her in an indoor storage area, they're going to do further testing to see if that is the cause. I wanted to alert anyone who may be using this gadget as I did, because when it's not visible & in areas where you have storage & are not likely to remove everything regularly...you may find damage when you do...I'm not happy with the damage I've found, though it is minimal, I'm definitely happy that I found it when I did. I will try to post a picture of this connection. Sorry this is so long….

Interested in the pictures and what you come up with. I have always thought that a quick release would be handy to connectdisconnect with so that I could disconnect with little fuss when I want to take the rig to do a day trip explore.....( no toad here)

I am not at all sure what a quick release is... if you are talking about the water supply connection I use a layer of the thin white plumbers tape... if that is not what you are talking about just discard this note...

Guess I succeeded anyway... sorry about the double picture, but at least you now know what I am referring to..... As you can see from the picture, you can connect one end to your water inlet and the other end to your water hose. You screw each part on.
Then when you're wanting to connect to the water source in a park, all you do is push the one part into the other (presuming you have already attached these 2 parts to your hose & the other to your inlet on the coach). It's easy, quick & so convenient. Hope this answers your questions.....My moisture problem however, could be caused by this connection as at the coach outside inlet it may not be dripping, leaking, etc., but it could possibly not be a good leak free connection on the inside of the wall behind the water connection & be spraying on the inside of the coach. I'm not sure I'm explaining this right, but at least anyone that may be using this kind of a connection at their water connections will be aware to watch inside the coach at the inner walls to be sure there's no water coming in from the back side.

I purchased one of those after someone I met swore by it - telling me it'd be easier for me. It wasn't, and the dang thing broke the 2nd time I was going to use it. After you're story, I'm glad. I occasionally have trouble getting my hose on either end screwed on tight enough.

Just this past couple days, Sunshinecruiser showed me her Robo Grips. I borrowed them to see which size I want - as they grip better than what I have, making it easier for me to screw on or off. Here's the link to them on Amazon: Robo Grip 7 At least to one size. This was the color handle of her larger sized one, so hoping it's the size I want. Haven't ordered yet, but will be.

On edit, I discover they are made by Craftsman - went looking for a Review and it makes me like them more. I just might buy the 2 piece set HERE.

Hope you don't have any underlying problems from that water. Water is the one thing we truly can't live without and, on the other end of the spectrum, water causes more damage than anything I know. Glad you found it!

We refer to those as slip joint pliers but don't know if that's the right name for them. I bought a set from Harbor Freight that had 3 or 4 in the set. The largest opens up enough to fit my sewer hose connection which I sometimes have trouble turning. And it would make a darn good weapon. lol

Those Robo grips are great. I bought the 3 piece set years ago and constantly recommend them. Lenora, they are different than a vise grip in that you don't adjust them. Just put the size you need around the thing you need to loosen/tighten and squeeze and rotate. Simple and works great. Linda

The robo grips are great for those of us who do not have hand strength like me. Anyway, I also use a quick disconnect but it's at the faucet end not the water intake on the rig.

Thanks for the perfect explanation of them Linda. I borrowed Caroline's to see how they work today and loved it - so ordered from Sear's today - got the 2 pieces, even though I had only intended to get the larger size. I redid my water connection today with Caroline's, in way less time than it's been taking me. And easier!

We have a set of those too. Well, Ronnie had them before we met, since he has no fine motor skills in his hands, he can use them pretty good. Me, I'm muscle woman!
