Would you leave a note??

The trailer that is stored next to ours. They have had their awning open. I did drop one end of it, so when it rains it run off.
But I just think to the fact that we already lost an awning, and we were camping and just out for the evening and came back to the awning over the top of the trailer.

I have only spoke to the wife once, when she was down there getting ready for a trip. They are new to RV, they just bought the RV mid summer last year.

So would you just FYI note, about leaving the awning out ?

Kris, I would definitely leave a note. You stated that they are new to rving and probably don't know about wind and awnings and the damage that can occur. I would be glad to receive such a note. (and would probably pick your brains about rving) I don't think it would be received negatively. Linda

If it's at the storage area, yes, I'd leave a note. If you are afraid they'll not take it well, don't sign it - All you can do is try to inform - some listen, some don't. But I'd try to give the information.

We were in Kamiah Idaho one time and a sudden downpour hit us and I was on my computer and told Dan that something is really strange about the awning on the motorhome across from us so we went outside to check it out. The folks had left it out and went some where because the weather was nice they did not retract it . They did not know we were going to have a sudden downpour. There must have been 10 gallons or more of water up on their awning. It was not the kind you could just drop an arm and the water would come off. It was one of those that come straight out! Well it took 5 guys with brooms, picnic table to stand on to "walk" the water off the awning before it ruined it. Couple came back home and we told them what we did and they were grateful we saved their awning from damage and we are best friends now because of that awning. Yep I tell folks not to leave them out. I have personally seen awnings flip over RV's and the poles become giant stakes in the ground that could hurt someone or do damage to another RV.

That is what happened to us...only no one saved us. We rtn to broken an awning and it on top of the roof of the RV>

I was looking at it more closely this morning. Thinking that I would just close it up for them. We pull out today and it will leave them more exposed.
IT appears it maybe broken. The strap that you hook into to pull it out and let it roll up back up. Is missing. Even it is that, I think I would at least use every method to keep it secure.
