Picking It Up Tomorrow

Postby Colliemom » Sun Jun 20, 2010 6:57 pm

Well, tomorrow is the day I go to the dealers and pickup my new "Playhouse), no actually my Rockwood. I am excited and nervouse both. Excited because I am starting out on a new journey in my life. And nervous becasue I have to get used to towing this thing around and learning the ropes of operating all the equpmetn. Haven't decided on a name yet. Maybe I should call it "The Dog Hourse" with all the dogs I have right now! I'm going to take a little roundabout way going home to avoid having to go back through Petoskey cause of a few narrow road areas and some places where you had better be in the right lane or you have to turn where the road goes. Can be a bit of a challeng even in a car. So it will be more relaxing the first time with two lane roads and some expressway.
Then the fun starts - emptying my wallet at WalMart, Camping World and wherever else. to equip the thing. Can't wait to get started. I want one of those and those and........
And the reservations are made for the first trip, over 4th of July weekend. I'm going to camp at the park where I work since it's close to home for me. Will be there 3 nights and have a nice large site so no problems with backing in and setting up camp the first time. And no, I don't get a discount. I pay like everybody else. I will be working as well. So I will be doing the get up in the morning, take the dogs home, work and then go back and get the dogs thing for two days. The state parks do not allow unattended dogs in campers, outside or anywhere for that matter. So mine will go home which will be good for them as they are going to have to stay tied up over there. So they can ahave their freedom during the day at home. I only live three miles away, so no big deal. And two of my coworkers are setting up camps a few sites from me and a third is contemplating the site next to mine since it's open for the weekend at the moment. So some of the staff will be camping out with spouses/famly etc.

Sue, I'm so excited for you!! I can't wait to see pictures of how you make it your own with your special touches. Go a bit slow in buying items. Just get the necessities and then add. I kinda keep track of what I use/eat etc in my own home and go from there. Have fun!! Enjoy!! :D

Yea!! Looking forward to hearing (and maybe seeing?) about your maiden voyage. Nice that you can do it near home with friends and in a campsite where you know people. Just the beginning :D :D carold

I'm excited for you, and I wish it was me, but that's to be on another day.
Doghouse is a cute name but the name will come to you some day when
you least expect it. When you go pick it up and they do a walk through with
you and explain stuff and how it works, good idea to video tape it. Then you
can refer back to the video and make notes.

So exciting. And do not drive off that lot until you have every question answered. Make sure they go through everything - and I mean everything. That's one of the perks of buying new. And what was said about taping it is smart too - but at least make sure you take notes.

Your maiden voyage sounds wonderful.

It is a good idea to video AND take notes cause you might be a dummy like me and tape it only and then lose the tape for all eternity. lol

I'm really excited for you, Sue! And you'll tow it home with no problems...it wasn't as scary as I thought.

One thing George and I did when we first got our little trailer was to sleep in it in the driveway to get the little beast used to it. We'd stay and watch television for a while and then one of us would leave and come back. Then the other. Then both of us. I'm glad we did that because she's really quite at home in it.

You can't leave dogs in your trailer while you're gone? Heck, that's the main reason we got the trailer - to leave the beast in air conditioning instead of a boiling car while her humans did things!
