I know...but I sure did like the colors you chose when you painted the house.

I took five days to make up my mind about whether I would sell the house this summer or next spring, and whether I want to buy another condo nearby, so I could have south and north home bases. I decided on this summer ... and no extra condo. I have a six-wheeled second home that I can use. Even setting up camp for weeks at a time up here is cheaper than paying utilities, HOA fees and taxes on a second place.

Sooo .... I told roomie today about putting the house on the market. The silence is deafening. She gets pretty upset, but not in front of me. So I expect she'll talk to me when she's ready. It's hard, but I don't feel guilty.

I met with my local realtor today, and in talking to her I realized that I have been kind and provided a nice, affordable place for roomie to live for more than a year. I have nothing to feel guilty about. She has about a month here before the house is listed, and I talked to my not-BF Frank and he's happy to rent her a room for a few months until she can settle in somewhere. But she's a grown woman and perfectly capable of taking care of herself.

Talked to my St. George agent today, and we've moved up the closing date on the condo to July 1. So ... onward, onward.

I'M SO EXCITED!!

Janice, and I'm SO EXCITED for you.

No you shouldn't feel any guilt. It's your house. And you've giving her plenty of notice. How cool is that about the so soon closing date. Love it.

I guess I wasn't aware that your roomie wasn't going with you to the new condo.
Sorry you had to tell her to find another abode, but that comes with the territory of being the landlady/homeowner, I guess. Glad you stayed strong and guilt free, tho.

I'm not moving in on the closing date. It's just so I have the key and can begin moving stuff there. I won't have the house on the market for at least a month. It'll take that long to get the extra "stuff" out of the house.

Vickie, it's 300 miles south, and about 1500 feet lower in elevation (3,000 feet) than where I live right now. It's a very temperate climate in the winter, and blue-blazes hot in the summer ... but it's desert, dry heat (not that humid stuff y'all have). But hot nonetheless!

I just saw the closing papers and about fell out of my chair. The seller is bringing $116K to the table to close the deal! :o Can you believe that? So many people are walking away from properties that are underwater ... I don't know why he didn't as well.

I'm just glad he's such an upstanding guy. :D Close a week from today!

Wow! That is a costly sale on his part! You would think he would have just walked away from it if he was that far under. Or just rented out for a few more years, but then it sounds like he was having trouble renting it as well. That's too bad. Good for you tho!

If he can afford to put that much $ on the table, he must have a good income and is protecting his credit rating. All I can think of.

OR ... he is getting divorced and this property is being liquidated as part of the settlement. Does that make sense? Sticking her with half the loss?

Janice, just read about your news. I'm so happy for you and hope you will be happy with your new condo. It sounds like you made the right decision to sell your house and that you got a very good buy on the condo. Yep, it's hot in St. George now. We were at Zion last week and it's hotter down that way now. We're in Draper, UT getting an a/c put in this week - it sure is hot in the MH with only one a/c working.

Enjoy your new condo - you did good!
