Trying to stay dry here, so will sit by the campfire. Barbie, get some insoles for your shoes. The ones with the gel inside are great. They also make some that massage your feet while you walk. Use to use them all the time when I worked in a craft store. They really do make a difference and are not expensive (as a new pair of shoes). :D ;) They can be used with almost any kind of shoe as well.

Vickie, you certainly are ambitious washing the trailer in that kind of heat and humidity. Just on account, you should be able to eat whatever you want. Linda

most definately an interesting day for me, I'm popping a bottle of wine, but its
a single serve size, but there are a few more in the fridge so help yourself.
The seizure kid on my route had a seizure this morning and the magnet swiping
thing worked great. Brought him right out of it and I didn't even flinch over the
incident so guess the idea of driving special ed next year will be just fine. I've
done it many times but never had any "incidents", so this was a first.
Then on the way home, we get the little boy home and luckily we don't have the
second kid, (he didn't go to school today) but suddenly I felt an intestinal "emergency"
and pulled around the corner and stopped at Burger King to run in and use the
facilities. Get back in my bus and proceeded to pull out of the parking spot and
the brake peddle goes all the way to the floor!! WTH?? No brakes??? Get out, look
around and sure enough, I busted a brake line or wheel cylinder cause there was a
puddle of brake fluid under the tire and all over the inside wall. So glad this didn't
happen while driving the seizure kid home, or even while driving period! Called
dispatch and they sent another driver to pick us up and the shop would send for
the tow truck. Left the keys on top of the radio for the tow truck driver. My aide
and I got driven back to the yard and all is well. So, sometimes when you think
one of life's little inconvenience's could mess up your day, sometimes it might just have
saved your life instead.

Wow, Ava, you sure did have an interesting day! Were you driving when that boy had the seizure? Glad you weren't on the road when the brakes went out. That happened to me once and it is very scary!

I got a few things done today at home. I frosted my hair this afternoon, so I am a blonde again! This evening, I went to a holistic expo with a friend of mine. It was very interesting with lots of booths about various types of holistic health products and healing methods. I have taken a class on Reiki already and want to do more with that (especially with animals). The expo was held at the school where I took my Reiki class. I also sat with an animal communicator. She contacted my cat Snuffy, who died a year ago. Without telling her a thing, she picked up on his chronic illness and all the details of it, and of his death. She also contacted my first ferret Lucy. She said she is on the other side with "all the rest of them. Your group is all together". I didn't even tell this lady I had other ferrets after her that had died. She mentioned things that were right on target, like the ferret club I was a member of when I had Lucy. She said Lucy visits me occasionally, which I already knew. (I do have psychic experiences occasionally). So it was interesting! Next time I will find out about the animals that are still with me (alive).

I was getting caught up on my Camping Life magazines last night, and the April issue had an article about the Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas where our GTG will be. It was very interesting! There are some very cool hiking areas there, with waterfalls, huge rock formations, and gorgeous views! One issue also had a checklist of things for camping, so that will be helpful when I go down to visit with Bikerchic in July.

I don't have to be to work until 3 tomorrow so I have half the day to get more stuff done before I get back to the rat race! Gotta go get my cookies now! I think I have enough to share tonight! So help yourself. The ferrets are sleeping thru their playtime so they won't know! (can't believe the smell of the cookies hasn't woken them up! It usually does!)

Have a great night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Jean and I were talking about you today - and about that special needs child. I told her you'd probably never need to use that magnet. Boy was I wrong. So glad that it worked so well but I do hope that isn't an everyday occurance with that child. That said, so glad you weren't on the road when the brakes went. Wow. And so glad you're safe! What a day for you. Enjoy that glass of wine, you deserve it.

Janet, the magnet thing was interesting to me too and I had to do the research
as well, didn't even know what it was called, but I googled magnetic and seizure
and it came up with VNS (vagus nerve stimulator) and it was detailed on an
Epilepsy website.
The other incident that occurred (which I didn't mention) kept me up for hours
during the night as I woke up out of a dream about it. Well, this special school
has buses from all over and the bus in front of me seemed to be in a hurry to
get their kid on the bus. He was one of those special ed that tend to just stop
and forget how to move their feet. They were trying to get this kid to step
up on the steps of the bus and he wouldn't move. The school aide picked up
one of his feet and placed it on the step hoping the rest would follow, well, it
sort of did as the bus driver shut the door on the kids behind and he just sat there
on the steps with the door shut and the other foot dragging on the ground.
The driver proceeded to drive on around the circle and I'm yelling at the security
to STOP THAT BUS STOP THAT BUS, and he goes huh? I said the kids foot is dragging
on the ground. So he ran and stopped the bus. The scene made me sick to my stomach
thinking this poor kid would have had a bloody stump by the time he got home. (Now
THAT is probably what gave me my intestinal upset) Now I am angry about it and
will have to say something to the supervisor of that other school district. No bus
driver should be in that much of a hurry to put a kids life at risk. I will feel better
if I report the occurrence, otherwise if I say nothing, it will keep disturbing me in
my sleep. Safety is a very big thing in my head.

OMIGAWD, Ava!

What a bizarre and scary series of events for you! I would be so no good with that sort of stuff. One of my best friends when I was a little kid got her foot caught in the bus door as she was getting off the bus, and the driver dragged her quite a long way before one of the other kids noticed her foot. By the time he stopped, she had 3rd degree road burns over her entire body and spent months and years in the hospital getting skin grafts. She told me all she could see was the rear wheel of the bus turning as she was on her stomach, and terrified her shoe might come off, releasing her to be rolled over by the wheel! That visualization has kept me awake for many hours at night since then. I wonder if I can find her online to see how she is doing....think I will try.

I am so thankful you noticed what had happened for that kid's sake.

OH Ava! What a horrible thing for that child! I would definately report that right away! Bus drivers like that need to be fired! Didn't anyone else witness it? No wonder you got sick! I feel nauseous just thinking about it! I remember a bus driver I had who would take off before I was across the street and I would have to jump out of the way of the bus so he wouldn't run me over!

yes, it was reported, I called the school district of that bus and gave them the bus number
and details, also spoke to the staff at the special ed school. It was an inexcusable
incident in my book. Also, turns out one of our district bus aides is friends with that
other district bus aide that was on that bus and she will call her and find out if he got
in trouble, turns out the drivers name was Jim and had been driving that route for 8
years. He should know better!

I also wonder where the aide was and why he/she wasn't chasing the bus down. Whether the aide was inside or outside the bus the aide has some responsibility to see that a child is safely on a bus. If the children could do it themselves safely the districts would not be employing aides. Sitting in on steps half in, never counted in the program I knew. :o

Yikes! I thought all kids needed to be seated for any school bus to take off. When my kids were little I noticed their bus driver took off really fast before they were seated and so did some other parents. We went to the school board to complain and he was fired; and come to find out the driver also kept a bottle of hooch in the glovebox!! This was in the 70s.
I started a new thread in the Book section, but some might not see it so I'll ask here. Does anyone own a Kindle Book? I wanted to get back into reading but holding a book open for any length of time gives me a cramp and it gets awkward and heavy (I know, old age showing). I'm looking into getting a Kindle as I saw on their website that you can plug earphones into it and it will turn into an audio book! I thought that was pretty neat!

I hope I don't have nightmares about your bus stories, Ava! As for the Kindle...My daughter has a Nook from Barnes and Noble and loves it! Very portable and easy to see in different lighting.
