EXAM TIME AT SCHOOL

(Update from NABC) We don’t think Hope could be doing better under the circumstances. She is eating the formula, grapes, nuts, and mealworms we put out for her twice a day. In a taste test this evening, she went first for the mealworms, left those and ate all the grapes (2 cups), tried some formula, ate a cup of nuts, and seemed to be full. She pawed at a piece of wood, lay by the base of her red pine and pawed at the bark, and left. On the way out, we saw a log she had been working at for ants or grubs and found her dropping next to it. The scat contained ants, other insects, a fly, unripe Juneberry seeds, a raspberry flower, and other vegetation. It also contained a tiny, transparent clam shell. Hope is exploring and learning wild ways.
GOOD MORNING ALL!!

Every morning I see good news like this about little Hope, my heart feels good and my day is brighter. I guess her mom is only a half mile away from her now, but seems to be giving her room to forage on her own. A teensy little radio collar has been ordered for Hope----one that will break away if she catches it on something-----so that they can continue to track her whereabouts when she no longer comes to the feeding station. They figure that when all those berries get ripe, her range will get larger and larger. Sue, the woman who is working to gain Hope's confidence, has yet to get close enough to touch her, however, which she will have to do in order to put her collar on.

Yesterday was the last full day of classes at school----tons of recycling locker 'stuff' and room 'stuff'----some sad goodbyes from those moving, and a neat gift from one of my most difficult students-----"An angel from a devil" he said! I have never been given an angel in all my life! He said I have to be an angel to have put up with him all year! Needless to say, I cried.

It will be very empty and very quiet for the rest of the time now, as exams begin this morning. I checked about my personal days, and they WILL become sick days on the last day of school if I don't use them----so I won't use them as they will give me two more days of unused sick-day pay in my final check. I'll have to find a way to sneak out early each day, as it will be SO boring for me with nothing to do. Maybe I can help in the library.

Stop by, have some hot coffee, and tell us about your day. It's forecast to be sunny and warm today, although it's just 46 out there now. Happy Tuesday!

Happy travels!

Good Morning All - It is going to be hot and humid again today here in Indiana. Another big storm rolled through here last night - we were under tornado warning for a while. But as usual the worst weather was north and south of us - it seems to roll around the hills we live on. Humidity was 86% yesterday and temp was 88 - like living in the shower.
Today or tomorrow we are getting part of the back deck screened in so we can sit out there without the company of the wasps.
The Driver is well - though I haven't seen much of him lately. World Cup- Soccer is on - starts at 7:30 a.m. - 3 games a day. And tonight is a basketball game - a day of sports.......buts it too hot to do anything any way.
Enjoy your day.

Morning,
Slept fitfully last night and have a headache this morning. Just having my coffee and turned on the TV to try catching the forecast. Our high was only 60 yesterday, altho it was sunny, but a bit breezy.
I took Little Missy back to storage. My X was to stop by and check out the AC but called and cancelled. I used the new dump station at the storage place. All went well as that was only my second time doing that.
Kathleen, I had the problem with swelling eyes last year, but along with that I had the crusty stuff, so thinking it was allergies. Different from the allergies I'm suffering this time as mostly it's in my sinuses. Just all strange stuff going around.
Thanks for the Hope update, Soos.
Prayers for Carol's surgery.

Good Morning
The positive reports on Hopes progress also brighten my day. Thanks, Soos.
Don't forget this is Armed Forces Week. Monday was big kick off for Armed Forces Week around here. Had wanted to go to the free concert and fireworks last night but the heat index was still above 100 at start time (6:30). Decided to wait and just go park nearby to see fireworks. Did wait until just before 8:00 but took chance at getting into stadium since I figured heat kept lot of crowd away. Got there in time for about 1/2 hour of the band performance and to see fireworks. Heat was still uncomfortable but I did enjoy. Kid in me may never out grow fireworks and patriotic music. Lots of military equipment on display but did not wander thru it.
I do not function well in this excessive heat. Heat index was already up to 101 at 10:00 AM. Would not op to go out today but have a doctor appointment this afternoon.
Have a safe day.

Slept in a little again this morning. Yesterday I slept until 12:30 so must have been tired from a hard weekend at work! It is cooler here but humid and sticky. The sun is actually finally peaking out after over a week of clouds and rain!

Benedryl is really good for allergies! Works for me.

I have a few errands to run today but otherwise will read and relax on the porch. Maybe I will frost my hair later too! I gave myself a haircut yesterday and ended up cutting most of the old frosting off so it is rather dark again.

Glad Hope is doing so well! Her biggest danger now is probably male bears. But they haven't seen any in her area at all, so that is good. I have been to Ely and it is a cute little town in the middle of the forest, next to the Boundry Waters area. Very remote. They also have the International Wolf Center there, that I have also been to. There was a woman who lived up there her whole life in a little primitive cabin who was totally self-sufficient. She was known as the Root Beer Lady since she made her own root beer. There is a book all about her life called the "Root Beer Lady" which is very interesting. My mom and I visited her little cabin. She died about 15 years ago or so. The town also got on the map briefly a couple years ago when they put in a bid for the Summer Olympics. It was obviously just a ploy to get more people to know about the town and get more tourists to visit, because there is no way they could possibly handle the Olympics in a tiny remote town like that!

Hope you all have a good day, and stay cool and safe!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Afternoon here... thanks for the advice... I have fluticasone propionate cream 0.05% put it on 4 times a day and put cloths dipped in tepid water on it for 20 min... and a pill once a day... I cannot think of a thing I have done different... yes it is a bother to say the least besides itching the eyes hurt awful... sure hope it does not hurt my sight when it is over... cannot read have to make the letters in the messages huge before I can see them... watching tv is a pain... I have never had allergies before... guess I am among the luck ones... my daughter said maybe the flowers she planted but the doctor said my hands and arms would be broken out if it was that... the first doctor I saw was not in the office yesterday but I will see her on Friday... the doctor I saw yesterday said she should not have let me quit the prednisone so early... I simply hate that stuff... it made me so huge when I took it 8 years ago and it has stayed that way...
Well it is all going to be better soon... thank you again for the suggestions...
Sure hope Carol came through her surgery... has anyone heard?
